Rose Leslie on meeting Kit Harington through Game of Thrones. 🥹❤️

Their love story apparently began in one of the most romantic filming locations imaginable.

While shooting in Iceland, the cast and crew stayed together in an abandoned hotel that HBO had rented out for the production. They were literally in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by Icelandic wilderness. And whenever the Northern Lights appeared, everyone would go outside and stand beneath them together.

Rose described it as being inside a “beautiful bubble” with the crew, and admitted that there were definitely some romantic elements to the whole experience. 🥹

And then there's the part that makes this even sweeter, Ygritte and Jon Snow's fictional romance eventually became a real-life love story for Rose Leslie and Kit Harington.

Westeros really does work its magic. ❤️

Before HBO’s Game of Thrones became a global phenomenon, George R.R. Martin had to decide whether David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were the right people to adapt his books.

During their first meeting, Martin asked them a seemingly simple question:

“Who is Jon Snow’s mother?”

They gave him the correct answer, and Martin knew they had truly understood the story he was writing.

Years later, D.B. Weiss referred to this moment as the “Wonka test”, essentially, Martin’s way of testing whether they were worthy of being entrusted with his world.

That one question helped convince Martin that these two actually got A Song of Ice and Fire. 🐺👑

And considering how carefully Martin had hidden Jon’s parentage, getting that answer right was no small achievement.

Game of Thrones, you will always have a place in my heart. 🐺🐉

I honestly don't think Game of Thrones is a show you watch just once. It's one of those series where the more you rewatch it, the more you notice. The little details, the foreshadowing, the conversations you didn't fully understand the first time around.

By the third viewing, you're sitting there thinking, "How did I miss all of this?" And that's the thing about this universe. It's so huge and so well-built that eventually you want to know everything. The history, the families, the old kings, the legends.

At this point, if HBO announced a series about the guy who built a staircase in the Red Keep, I'd probably watch it. 😂

But more than anything, Game of Thrones felt like an era. Every Sunday felt like a cultural event. Everyone was watching. Everyone had a theory. Everyone had a favorite character. And the next morning, the entire internet was talking about what happened.

So many great shows have come since. But that feeling? Nothing has quite matched it.

Game of Thrones will always be more than just a TV series. ❤️‍🔥

Before he was Jon Snow, Kit Harington was working at a Waterstones bookstore, and George R.R. Martin was apparently making his job harder. 😂

Harington has recalled that he worked downstairs in the fantasy section, where Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books were incredibly popular. They were constantly selling out, meaning Harington had to repeatedly carry those huge books downstairs and restock the shelves. He joked that he “h*ted” Martin because he was always having to lug the books around.

Little did he know that those same books would eventually lead him to the role that changed his life meet his wife.

Pedro Pascal’s first day on the set of Game of Thrones was one of Oberyn Martell’s most memorable scenes, his conversation with Tyrion in the prison cell.

It was also Pascal’s first day in full costume, and he admitted he was extremely nervous. He was stepping onto a show he was obsessed with and immediately had to share a major dialogue scene with Peter Dinklage.

But Dinklage’s generosity, Alik Sakharov’s direction, and the strength of the writing helped calm his nerves. Pascal later said that experience became “one of the best workdays” of his life.

Not a bad way to begin your Game of Thrones journey. 🐍🔥

There’s something really beautiful about how “Go to the Wall. Jon will help you.” became a source of comfort in Westeros.

The Wall was supposed to be a place for criminals, outcasts, and men who had nowhere else to go. But somehow, Jon Snow turned it into something completely different. A place people could run to.

Bran was told to go to the Wall because Jon would protect him. Arya was desperate to get back to the North and find Jon. And when Sansa needed somewhere safe, Theon told her to go to the Wall because Jon would help her.

Even after everything that happened between Jon and his family, his siblings never doubted what he would do for them.

And that's what I love about Jon. He didn't need a crown to be a leader. He took a place built for the unwanted and made it feel like a safe haven for the people he loved.

George R. R. Martin once revealed that Natalia Tena’s portrayal of Osha made him rethink the character and that he found the TV version more interesting than the Osha he originally wrote.

In a 2011 interview, Martin explained that when he first saw Tena auditioning, he thought she was wrong for the role because she was much younger and more attractive than the Osha he had imagined. But her audition changed his mind:

“She makes the character more interesting.”

He even said that when he brought Osha back in the books, he would have to make her more interesting to match Tena's portrayal.

And later, Martin was even more explicit. He described Osha as a “pretty minor character” in the books with essentially a “one-note personality,” while saying Tena made her an “interesting and vibrant, alive character.” He said Natalia was the most extreme example of an actor influencing how he thought about a character.
