Frankfurt Book Fair New York The Frankfurt Book Fair New York, Inc. is an office of the Frankfurt Book Fair and acts as a bridge between the German and American publishing industries.

The Frankfurt Book Fair New York—formerly known as the German Book Office, or GBO—was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organization and is one of four international business offices of Frankfurter Buchmesse. We represent the Frankfurter Buchmesse through the year and are your liaison for all Frankfurter Buchmesse related matters, on the business as well as the cultural side.

No Man's Land: New German Literature in English Translation

To Translators of German-language literature into English:

The Editors of No Man’s Land are committed to continuing our support of the translation community in the current crisis situation, and will maintain our usual publication schedule for the 2020 edition of our journal.

Translators of German-language literature into English are invited to submit their work for consideration for our fifteenth issue (2020) from now until September 10, 2020.

As before, we will be accepting submissions of German prose and poetry written since 1990 and not previously published in an English version, as follows:

fiction and creative nonfiction, including self-contained excerpts from longer works (up to 4,000 words);

or

up to six poems by a single author.

Detailed guidelines for your submission are set out on the SUBMIT page of our website at
www.no-mans-land.org/submit/

Deadline: September 10, 2020.

We had a wonderful experience at the Frankfurt Book Fair, at “LitAG” with its row upon row of busy tables buzzing with multimillion-dollar deal-making, now moved to a new ”Festhalle,” where it proceeds under the watchful ray of an esoteric dome, such a fitting place for the heart of the book fair.
