While in the Birmingham area…
I need help with something fun, a AL local playwright who is a friend sent me a play they wrote in 2015, I directed a reading of it in NYC with a new plays group. Due to the setting and the time period along with a few topics that are too sensitive now, I asked my friend if they could think about changing the setting and time of the play to a modern time and then they could address current social and political topics in new this gut punching comedy.
They took my advice and now I would like to hold a (Zoom) reading of the play while here in Alabama. I may produce a local AL production later this summer, but I have my sights set on a NY production in the fall directed and produced by myself.
I am seeking local Birmingham actors (or community actors) to assist us on April 15th, 2024. I really would not mind if men wanted to play the roles as gender non specific is a hot topic now. Please let me know if you see this and want to be involved. Private message me or text me if you have my cell.
Here is the cast list.
Mattie Mae – (Mid 40’s) Third of the five sisters, outspoken, critical, and pushy
Vestal – (Late 40’s) Second of the five sisters, soft-spoken and empathetic, fearful of what others think
