House of Talmadge

House of Talmadge Award Winning Production Company: Film, Television, Photography, Web Design and Corporate Branding. “The biggest risk a man can ever take, is to take no risk at all” ~ Talmadge Heyward Seven years ago while directing a film in Key West, Talmadge, the award winning photographer and filmmaker, had a catastrophic accident that not only threatened to end his passionate career of photography and film, but also his life.

He was left physically challenged and unable to walk in chronic pain, but he refused to allow the word “no” into his vocabulary. With sheer will, determination, 13 hospitals, 42 doctors, 17 surgeries and months and months of painful therapy he emerged with his indefatigable spirit in tact. Talmadge beat the odds and is proud to open wide the doors to The House of Talmadge (aka HOT), his new photography, film, television, web and full media production house. With a promise in his pocket, he owes his current success to those who have lent their indispensable help to him: the SC Vocational Rehabilitation Dept., Tom Mayne, Patricia Harrison, and Ginny Hughes. He has a passion to prove that the Uniquely Abled can create film and imagery that will make the world take notice. The House of Talmadge is tapping into the creative pipeline that has been long ignored, but has been screaming to have a voice. The House of Talmadge (HOT), is a cutting edge and out of the box first of it’s kind production company in which the majority of the creative team is Uniquely Abled. Before the accident, Talmadge worked painstakingly to show the world something new. He created positive images of the LGBT community with portraits of couples and families. He then went on to produce films and television spots that changed the views of the world and questioned the status quo. Talmadge worked with corporations such as Absolut, Pepsi, Captain Morgan and Getty Stock Images that propelled him to shooting magazine covers, branding of corporations, and promoting tourism in various countries. The House of Talmadge (HOT) is already setting trends and putting a face on a vast array of communities including the Uniquely Abled, Veterans, Hispanics and LGBT folks. The House of Talmadge (HOT) is going to be the company to watch, and Talmadge is the man to follow. As he states in the HOT mission: “If you want someone to believe something different, you have to show them something different.” Find out more about Talmadge’s journey, his life with chronic pain, his daily diary and his lectures on Life, Love, Looks, Joy, and Pain.

Please ask your friends to join us on our page and review our new web site http://www.houseoftalmadge.com. I thought this day would never come when I would make a come back, renew my passion, but more importantly, have a mission.

During my difficult struggle, 17 surgeries, and more to come, I have been a witness to the horrible treatment of our Veterans who have come home, others like myself who had careers, and lives and suddenly found out that we did not fit anywhere.

Our work, our lives, meant really nothing, people viewed us differently, as if we were different, and had never really been anyone or done anything. Sometimes people even thought we were not intelligent simply because we were on crutches or in a wheelchair. We suddenly became insignificant. Through my experiences, my treatments, surgeries, centers, working along side Veterans with PTSD built a fire in me that is so strong. That is why I have formed the Uniquely Abled Project. But it is my photography and film I am returning to with a new found passion I did not know I had. My view through the lenses is so different and that is why I formed the House of Talmadge, a house in which imagery will hopefully change people's minds. I may have had an accident, but I did not lose my talent nor my eye for the beautiful soul and the beauty in everyone.

I made a promise that I would put a face on those that have fallen between the cracks, and I will. One portrait, one film, one television pilot at a time. I am finding my way so I am asking you to help me and join in. I realize I have fallen away from a great deal of people as you will read on my blog.

We have already begun projects, and I am rebuilding my library, plus our new film, "Stripped", on the lives of Veterans began shooting last weekend. So slowly I am rebuilding the brand of The House of Talmadge. It is going to be hard, but I know you will get behind me as you did before, so please contact me and please follow me, I will always need your support and kind words.

As most of you know, Diversity has always been my driving force, those that fall between the cracks, I have had the pleasure to work within the Hispanic community and will continue to offer my support, care and also put a face on this sector of the population that people do not know work very hard, pay taxes and are proud Americans.

It was the LGBT community that made me in the first place and I am returning to my roots, because the political climate is appalling. Positive images, positive film roles, couple portraits, what happened? I intend to bring this back and rebuild a new look for a new time.

My photography, art, television development and films are going to reflect my passions...I no longer have to reach for stories or scripts, I have lived them...believe me.

I just ask for your support my friends, I was angry for a long time, but will sheer will and sometimes nothing but myself, I am here and I am grateful....Watch out, it is time to show the world something different, and as my mantra says, "If you want someone to believe something different, you have to show them something different.

I am back, thank you for your love an support,

Talmadge
