Classic of the week
Glory Club - 1000 Words featuring Dominique Star
Listen: https://on.soundcloud.com/DKeiUCyVyssj3XOCQk

A band name that hints at the dancefloor but steps far outside it. Glory Club is what happens when Anthony Collins and Jordan Lieb (black light smoke) flip the script and let pop instincts lead the way.

“1000 Words” with Dominique Star’s unmistakable voice at its center, sits somewhere between soft neon glow and crisp morning air. The production leans retro in tone but still feels timeless. Loops and sounds from their 2012 sessions weave around the sharp lyricism and Dominique Star’s delivery, balancing warmth and clarity. This one earns its spot in the Classic of the Week without breaking a sweat.

Black Light Smoke - Decisions featuring Suavecito
"Decisions" has a crooked line running through it and highlights the mark that Black Light Smoke burned into Scissor & Thread's DNA from the very beginning. Released in November 2011, the album sketches the label's warped, smoke shrouded house with a grin. Suavecito's voice drifts through synths. Shadowy house at its finest: warm kicks, dusty hats, a lowend that takes you by the hand. The edges remain rough and the groove does its own kind of work.

A secret of the finest hours that still ignites when the room goes dark. Another gem crowned as our Classic of the week

A deep house gem that balances clarity, warmth, and motion. “Discover You” marked DaRand Land's full solo debut on the label, and it arrived fully formed. The title track carries his unmistakable signature: luminous piano phrases, grounded bass pressure, and textures that swirl like distant signals.

Every sound feels placed, put into perceptive and earns attention through its craft and depth. There’s no moment of slack. Every detail pulls its weight. A quietly enduring cut that still feels essential.n Still essential, and an easy pick for this week’s classic for our best of selection.

Rosas Nievas - Every Inch Of You (Frank & Tony’s Breakaway Remix)
Frank & Tony approached this remix like architects of mood. Every element is placed with care. The track stretches out patiently, letting chords, rhythm, and voice move without pressure.

The bassline holds steady while soft piano phrases drift in and out. The vocal sits low in the mix and adds a unique texture. Released in 2015 on Scissor & Thread, it’s a standout in the duo’s catalog and another gem added to our "Classic of the week" selection.

Lightbluemover - No Cliché feat. Jason Poranski showcases the sound of the Scissor & Thread aesthetic in its early days. The song remains spacious and stripped down, with a nod to tension and minimalism. The vocals are drifting alongside the deep bass tones, making the whole song a delight to listen to. The vocals are catchy and will stick in your head. Dynamics provide a laid back vibe, but the perscussion set and overall groove still make the song danceable and captivating.

Released in 2012, this EP is still a great snapshot of the label's fresh roots, making it a perfect choice for our classic of the week.

Steve Bug's remix of Worked brings something new and fascinating out of the original. Where Frank & Tony laid the foundation with their characteristic composing, Steve Bug builds up a more intense tension and lets the individual sounds speak in calculated impulses.

The music remains in its perfect positioning. The kick remains dry and steady, the synths open up slowly and the groove circles around itself with steady intent. This remix was released on Scissor and Thread in 2012 and still moves with elegance. A timeless favorite from the catalog and a more than worthy choice for classic of the week.

When Lovework was released on Scissor & Thread in 2012, it introduced a sound that felt sharp edged and highly individual. Jordan Lieb, under his alias Black Light Smoke, molded his very own sound, which could be interpreted as a touch lo-fi house, into something gripping and rough, with rich drums and vocals that sound like they came from a worn out tape.
The remix by DJ T. retains the grit, but shifts the focus. It is lively, well intentioned, built around a groovy sound and tight percussive accents. The vocal phrases come through with just enough distortion to maintain the atmosphere. Everything is in the right place here.

A track that still holds weight more than a decade on. This is a essential from the Scissor & Thread archives and a perfect addition to our Classic of the week selection.

Originally part of the Thresholds remix collection, Hidden Spheres take on “Earth Moves” stood out as a quietly dazzling remix. The Manchester based producer reshaped the track into a unique piece of electronica, warm and meditative.

Where the original drifted through ambient textures and electro-acoustic detail, this version brought a new sense of motion. The groove glows from within, anchored by subtle percussion and soft swells of melody that feel fluid and focused. A highlight not just of the remix package, but a reminder of how expansive and expressive the sounds can be.

A timeless favorite that earns its place our the "Classic of the week" selection.

Classic of the week:
Black Light Smoke - Screws In My Head

It sounds like something’s coming loose. Not in the production, that’s tight. But in the feeling. Released in 2014, this was one of Scissor & Thread’s early statements. Unpolished, emotional, and locked into its own kind of logic. That’s what makes it stand out, even now.
