For parents with ADD/ADHD: On Thursday, January 20th at 8PM (NYC Time) The Manhattan Adult ADD Support Group is pleased to present the following lecture - On Zoom (To register for this Zoom lecture, please send E mail to: [email protected] (please include your first name & E mail address). Adult ADHD: Missing In Action. Why? And What Can Be Done About it With Peter S. Jensen, MD, Founder of The REACH Institute Our presenter will tackle a long-standing concern: the under-recognition and under-treatment of ADHD in adults. Relevant issues include: a lack of training among providers; skepticism regarding ADHD; a tendency to overlook ADHD in favor of co-occurring conditions (such as anxiety or depression or bipolar disorder); and a failure of professionals and families to adequately prepare teens with ADHD to monitor their condition -- and become proactive in its management -- as they transition to adulthood. To address these challenges, he will outline what would be required for an effective national strategy to transcend the above. Dr. Jensen graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine. Over the years, he has served as assistant director of child-psychiatry research at the National Institute of Mental Health; and taught psychiatry at Columbia, the Mayo Clinic, and the University of Arkansas. Currently, he chairs the REACH Institute (Resource for Advancing Children's Health), which he founded. Dr. Jensen's books include: Superparenting for ADD; Making the System Work for Your Child with ADHD; and Toward a New Diagnostic System for Child Psychopathology: Moving Beyond the DSM. We request a $5.00 dollar donation at all of our meetings. ------------------------------------------------------ #NewYorkCity #ManhattanAdultADDSupportGroup #SelfCare #AdultADDSupport
