Have you ever wished you had a friend in the publishing industry? Someone you could trust for insight and direction into getting your book on the shelves and growing your brand as an author. Someone with experience in Big Publishing, but a heart for independent authors. If you’ve ever hoped for that resource – The Book Publishing Toolbox is for you! The Book Publishing Toolbox is an all-encompassi

ng publishing course designed for independent authors. In the course, we cover topics like:

Will people want to read my book? How do I sell my book? How much will it cost to publish my book? How do I build a following? Do I need an editor? Do I need an agent? How do I make my book a success? The Book Publishing Toolbox was created by veteran publishing professional Julie Trelstad. Julie has been working in publishing since Amazon was only a river. Her experience is unusual because she’s worn many different hats: editor, book marketer, acquisitions editor, production manager, publisher, coach, and publishing entrepreneur—few understand how all the pieces connect better than Julie. As an avid reader, Julie is passionate about seeing the publishing industry thrive and diversify—through better support for authors and more diversity for readers. The Book Publishing Toolbox is based on the publishing techniques used by professional publishers and offers a foundation for both traditional and self-publishers who value both quality and a proven path to book sales! Listen, I know you’ve heard it all before…

“Just market your book!”
“Use social media!”
“Build an email list!”
Blah blah blah. My clients heard it too—and still felt stuck.

That’s why I created the Reader Relationship Sprint. Because authors don’t need more random advice. They need a clear system.

Before joining, most of my students were completely overwhelmed.

Here’s what their weeks looked like:

Monday: Try a new tactic.
Tuesday: Forget to post.
Wednesday: Panic about visibility.
Thursday: Watch sales stall.
Friday: Wonder if their book would ever reach the right people.

Now? They’ve got a real plan. A reader relationship system that works—and feels doable week after week.

And here’s the kicker: I guide them through it in just 1 hour + 7 days of short set-up exercises.

Inside the Reader Relationship Sprint, I show you how to plan and set up your entire 2026 book marketing strategy—step by step.

No fluff. No gimmicks. Just momentum.

It’s only $17. Click the link, and I’ll show you how.

Real authors. Real breakthroughs. Real community.

Ever wonder what happens when you finally find the right support—and a circle that gets it? Marcia, Kevin, and Megan came in with big ideas and bigger doubts. Three months later, they’re launching new books, connecting with readers, and (finally) enjoying the process again.

What changed? Personalized strategy, honest feedback, and a community that cheers every win—no matter how small.

Struggling to grow your author platform?

You’re not alone—and you don’t have to guess your way through. After 35+ years in publishing, I’ve seen three strategies move the needle for authors who’ve published but still feel invisible:

1. Focus on your *author identity*—not just your book. Readers connect with people, not titles.

2. Choose one marketing channel to master first. Overwhelm kills momentum; clarity builds it.

3. Leverage AI tools for smarter outreach (not just more noise). The right tools save time—and sanity.

Curious how these play out for real authors? Let’s talk. Drop a comment or DM if you’re ready to build an audience that actually sticks around. 😊

Most authors think they need to write 20 books to make money. That's wrong.

At Fine Homebuilding magazine, we used expensive market research to turn magazine articles into bestselling books. Sarah Susanka wanted to write a generic architecture book. Our research showed people actually wanted smaller, smarter homes.

"The Not So Big House" became our first blockbuster seller.

The breakthrough isn't writing more books - it's aligning your expertise with what people actually want. It takes 2-3 books to find this sweet spot, not 20.

Want my complete market research method (the same process we used at Fine Homebuilding)? Comment "RESEARCH" below and I'll send it over.

Writers: Stop waiting to be "ready" for Instagram! 📱✨ Just finished this manifesto about why we freeze at social media (hint: we forget we already know how to tell stories).

What's YOUR biggest Instagram fear? Mine was video... until I remembered vulnerability makes great writing too

Authors already have what it takes to win at Instagram. Look at others for inspiration, experiment fearlessly, embrace video's vulnerability, and use your storytelling skills. Every post is a micro-story. You wrote a book—Instagram is just another page. Start badly, start scared, start anyway.

This is Harry the cat here at Paperbacks and Pixels. He's getting ready for Halloween, and working on a new kids' book about how to best keep people from reading books by sitting on them, or by guarding them as shown here 🤣.
