🌟 Welcome Lauren West to the team! 🌟

We are thrilled to share that Lauren West, a well-regarded home furnishings industry executive, has joined our team as an account director!

Lauren is best known for her 15 years at Natuzzi, where she was head of communications and public relations. She brings with her a long list of accomplishments over a three-decade career with leading home furnishings brands. She most recently was director of marketing for the DesignHouse division of Sherwin-Williams Industrial Wood business. She handled relations with designers and created strategies and programs to increase business in the residential, contract and hospitality sectors. Prior to this role, she was at Natuzzi America as director of communications and public relations. She also had responsibilities for education and development, and merchandising and design during her time with the company. Earlier in her career, she was marketing manager for the Spring Air licensee in North Carolina.

Susan brings with her decades of experience, most recently serving as publisher of Home Accents Today/Furniture, Lighting & Décor, and having spent 17 years with Furniture Today, where she held several key roles, including associate publisher. She’s also held leadership positions at the Dallas Market Center.

Susan will focus on helping companies in the home furnishings industry harness the power of PR to elevate their brands and tell their stories more effectively.

While we were sad to read of the end of the Star-Ledger’s print edition, we are encouraged by NJ Advance Media President Steve Allessi’s quote, “It’s important to emphasize that this is a forward-looking decision that allows us to invest more deeply than ever in our journalism and in serving our communities.” If that is indeed the case, Star-Ledger readers will benefit –even at the expense of some spilled ink and paper. We look forward to applauding the news organization’s investment in journalism as it carries on its tradition as one of the best newsrooms in the state.

Print journalism is becoming a fading art—not just on newsstands, but in our schools as well. The absence of school publications limits opportunities for students to gain valuable writing experience. However, Journalism for All, a local New York non-profit, is committed to reversing this trend by expanding journalism programs, school publications, and internship opportunities across the city, where only 27% of high schools currently have a student newspaper. This morning, Hoda Kotb announced her departure from the Today Show after five years as co-anchor and nearly 30 years with NBC News. Our CEO Stan Steinreich was featured in USA Today this morning discussing the decline in local news reporting in the wake of WCBS-AM/Newsradio880 going dark. “Local news outlets in America are facing a slow decline. As more people turn to social media for their news, traditional newspapers and radio stations have been forced to either close their doors or significantly scale back their operations.” He encourages consumers to actively support their local news outlets by subscribing, tuning in, or watching, to help keep traditional journalism alive!
