Cameron Lee's "Medusa" and "Pink Tile" were published in the previous issue of Echoes. Cameron is a junior in Columbia College majoring in Creative Writing and concentrating in Visual Arts. When she isn’t busy treating her plants like human children, she is most likely drawing otherworldly women and contemplating the unexplainable. She strives to represent beauty alongside discomfort, aesthetic and visual intrigue, and to make people feel something with her work. Her art goes hand-in-hand with her writing, which also focuses on the fantastical, and both exist in a literary and visual world where not everything is as it seems. Cameron typically draws in sketchbooks and is partial to ballpoint pens, art markers, and ink. You can find her art on Instagram @artcameronangela.

Maya Sibul is a Junior at Barnard studying English. These sketches, published in the Fall 2018 issue, were made while she was studying abroad in London—both dealing with the distortion and manipulation of image as a surface for viewer perception. She particularly enjoys playing with color and line quality.

In last semester's issue, we published Chloe Zhang's "Park." Moving to NYC by herself has been an exciting but challenging experience for Chloe. Having been living in Beijing for 15 years of my life, she now still finds NYC a little unfamiliar. She is thus always stuck in the position of being a new NYC resident while yet still a tourist, and she is trying to capture that feeling through her photos. Check out Chloe's website here: https://www.shiyuzhang.com/

My Adoption: A Self-Portrait

Willa Cuthrell-Tuttleman, published in the Fall '18 issue of Echoes, wrote a beautiful article for The Eye. Check it out here: https://www.columbiaspectator.com/the-eye/2019/02/04/my-adoption-a-self-portrait/#.XFhIdVjA9uU.facebook

You aren’t able to tell from my name that I’m Chinese. The first part hints at my mom’s taste in literature, the last is a small act of feminism: two long American surnames that won’t fit on a hospital wristband. I do have a Chinese name, but I don’t use it. It came on my adoption document...
