He badly wants to be in the pool. This is as close as he gets. lol a lot of folks are saying that this is fake or Photoshop lol this is my black cat named Floki and he likes to climb the tent that is covering my pool, so where it’s tight against the edge of the pool he is on the outside of the pool on top of the tent and it is tight at the edge so he has found himself a spot where he likes to lay. It’s not Photoshop. I wouldn’t know how to Photoshop if my life depended on it. An apology might be nice from you sarcastic folks lol I thought this was pretty cute and kind of funny and that I would share because anybody with a cat and a pool is bound to have some content to post. I’ve posted my pool before and posted the tent that I bought from Amazon, so that other people can see because it keeps all the bugs out and also keeps the cats out. I doubt I’ll post again. This was fairly unpleasant.

Quick question?….just paid a pool company to close my pool yesterday and today I woke up to this 🤷🏽‍♂️…is this normal?…I thought they were supposed to use a pool pillow also and i definitely don’t see one😂..Stole this picture for a Sunday morning funny…Have a great Sunday and keep enjoying those pools as long as you can 😎….(again I’m just being funny and trying to bring a few smiles to people’s faces this morning) 😁

A friend of mine just had a wild pool day 😅
They took a water sample to the pool store because their test strip showed low pH, low alkalinity, and low free chlorine. The store ran full tests — and yep, everything was low… even cyanuric acid.

So they were told to add shock, alkalinity plus, and calcium plus — exact measurements given.
They followed instructions to the dot.

Next thing?
The pool water turned PURPLE.
And of course, the store is closed today. Classic.

What’s funny is, the new test strip shows everything in the ideal range — except free chlorine, which is now on the higher side.
No copper, no iron, no nitrates either, according to the store’s results.

As someone who’s been deep in the pool game for a while, I gotta say… sometimes even when you do everything “right,” the pool still hits you with a plot twist. 💀💧

Opened my pool in Shelby Township Michigan about a 10 days ago. It was 82 degrees, I'm not kidding, the next day it was 50 degrees and rain. I have always waited until it was way to hot to open and have regretted it, vowed this year I was not going to wait. Jokes on me! I have been adding chemicals faithfully since and the temp in the pool today is 58. Ugh.. I just want to swim! Come on higher temps!

Upon opening the pool this year it was crystal clear! But....The water level was extremely low. We had so much rain we crossed our fingers and hoped it was just the weight added to cover that it pushed it out through the open skimmer. Had to add 2/3rds amount to fill it. Water was crystal clear.

For those of you on the stone added around an above ground pool conversation a few years ago. It's doing great! No issues whatsoever. 🙂

We use permasalt system. Easy and love it! I'm not one to buy a bunch of pool chemicals, I use Baking Soda to raise my Alkalinity. Soda Ash to raise pH (Which is almost never since I battle high not low pH) and Muriatic Acid to lower pH and Alkalinity. One thing I've learned and they don't always teach you or explain the importance is to remove phosphates out of your pool. Yes you should watch pH and Alkalinity for clarity of pool but to also help prevent algae is to make sure it has nothing to feed on. Shock and Chlorine and other systems helps sanitize. It can be a vicious cycle if you don't get rid of phosphates. If you have algae it has food. Shock to kill it then phospate remover to make sure it has nothing to feed on.

When it rains here it puts phosphates into pool from whatever is in air. Fertilizer is a common culprit. Since I started watching phosphates and preferably kept it low to a zero reading, No algae. If you have phosphates, you have food for algae.

Been using Orenda PR-10,000. Quart for about $43.99. I buy at our pool store when I bring water in for testing. I do see it on Amazon. **NOTE: Phosphate remover can cause water to cloud, but it will go away in few days for clear water! Backwash after 24 hours. Not a fan of PhosFree which is a preventative.

TIP When opening pool leave last years sand in filter if you have to clean pool or have algae use old sand. Get everything cleaned out and when water is balanced, pool clean of debris and algae killed, hopefully clear. Good chance still cloudy from micro particles. Now switch out sand. It will get rid of those small particles clouding water. Plus all that dead algae that has passed through. Will make a big difference having clean sand for new swim season. May not be advice for everyone but has worked for me 🙂

Lots of smart people here ..looking for solutions. I love these steps ....they are easily 30 years old. BUT stuff gets trapped behind. What I usually do is get in the pool with a hose and blow it all out OR I disconnect and move them. There has got to be some smart person who has invented a water sprayer for something that continually pushes water under the steps. I see fountains so I'm thinking using that under the steps somehow. Gotta be someone smarter than me with an easy solution.
Funny how 30 years I have dealt with it...now I have my pool robot cleaner and my robot skimmer and I just want to make everything easy.

Ok. I am preparing myself for the keyboard warrior experts to hate on this post but here goes.

This is my 10 year owning an above ground pool and the 3rd year we are closing it with just a net. We use to do the tarp but all the leafe and dirt it collects ended up in the pool when we removed it mo matter what we did or how well we clean it. Some goop always ended up in the pool

The last 2 years we did the net, all we had to do to open it was clean off the leafs, send the dolphin cleaner in for a couple days before turning anything on.

It was a lot less work and our pool ended up cleaner, sooner and it kept the mucl out of the pump.

Ok... So we had a leak in the pool and had to fill it everyday. My water bill was astronomical. So we decided to just let it sit and see where the leak stopped. Well this is where it stops. When online to look for flex seal or JB Weld and both got pretty bad reviews for fixing a leak underwater. Any suggestions? I'm not taking anything apart I just want to slap something on there to fix it. Help please!!!

Well it's not full yet but it's happening! I finally got my pool. This is where I will be spending all my free time. This is a retirement goal met! I'm a happy girl.
UPDATE: its day 2
The pooll is full. 75 degrees.
The pool has had maybe 8 leaves.
Might just be the beat decision I have ever made lol so far very good.

Welp...didn't know I needed a permit for an above ground pool.

Apparently, its standard in the US, not just Loveland, CO.

Looking for any advice on it being 7ft from my property line vs the 10ft the city code is stating. Other than moving it 3ft, is there a work around for this issue?
