One of the great pleasures of reading across Keelan’s body of work is seeing how these concerns and images evolve over time. Even as her formal concerns change, Keelan continues to return to the literal heart, defamiliarizing it each time to give our own a jolt.

‘Luminous Debris: New & Selected Legerdemain 1992-2017’ by Timothy Liu

"This collection meditates on the tough questions: the role of desire in love, how to grapple with memory, and how to navigate communication & its various breakdown. If all art is “an attempt to interpret a dream,” then Liu places us firmly on the unmade bed. The subconscious, memory, and the realized physicality of the world are all unpacked with an astute and unflinching eye."

December 2018 Exemplars: Poetry Reviews by Grace Cavalieri | Washington Independent Review of Books

Tina Barr's GREEN TARGET is one of Grace Cavalieri's 2018 December Poetry Exemplars.

"Barr is inspired, every page, and fearless. For example, in “Ghost Variations” (on a painting by Joyce Thornburg), we get horrific examples of death and decay but written as if poetry is to fulfill a purpose that cannot be organized. Instead, it must be a force that brings emotion. Perhaps this can come from vivid writing."
