A one hour show just couldn't give this Brian Wilson Tribute justice. My mother turned me onto The Beach Boys back in the late 70s. Good Vibrations & I Get Around were tracks I had to listen to over and over on those big 70's headphones on my parent's LP Stereo System. Probably loved listening to records more than TV at that age and still do. It was about 20 years later when a friend, John Cregan, turned me onto the more sophisticated and nuanced production and arrangements of Brian Wilson's more overlooked work. And then about 10 years later after that, I got a show on WOMR out in the Outer Cape Outer Space and started using the board to saturate the airwaves with layered sounds of music, sound effects, spoken word, etc, inspired by Brian's production techniques. Also, I made an attempt to piece together my own version of Smile before its release in 2004 using both bootleg recordings and official releases of SmiLe songs that ended up as ignored tracks on forgotten Beach Boys albums. Anyway, just wanted to share that vibe with you all & hope you enjoy this Tribute that is now up on the Radio Free Brooklyn.
