Magnificent story and so correct and beautiful to read. It is taught love and acceptance is the first instinct and who knows they may have known each other in another life.

"My daughter and I are in Myrtle Beach taking a sunset walk when this adorable and sweet little boy comes walking right up to her. He shares with her the shark tooth around his neck. He tells her his name and asks her name to which she tells him. They part ways while saying goodbye, walking in the opposite direction. A few minutes later he comes running back, in what seems to be in slow motion, yelling out my daughter's name. She turns around and is greeted by his smile. So they share a few words, mainly about his super cool shark's tooth that apparently gave him powers 🙂

Before they walked, talked and raced, I asked his mother for permission to take this picture and this was the result. No one positioned them, told them to smile and there was absolutely no hesitation on their part at all. When we finished walking and it was time to go they hugged for a long time and exchanged about 20 "goodbyes."

This is a moment that we humans understand as just simply seeing no color lines, no judgement, no race, no hate, no shades. It's just pure....two kids meeting on a sunset walk without a care in the world...all they saw was each other.

This world would be a much better place if we acted like these two kids."

As our 7th edition comes to a close, we wish to thank our distinguished panel of clinicians, and all those who assisted and supported Operavision Academy this year. During this pandemic time, many artists have been without work, but above all without reason or inspiration to sing and keep their voices in the condition they need to in order to pursue a career. We have devoted ourselves to maintaining and protecting as many voices across the globe as we can. In turn, these talented artists devoted themselves beyond what was expected and so many barriers were broken, so many obstacles were overcome during the last two weeks. What we strive for at Operavision is to provide the artist with the tools they can use and ought to employ towards a successful career and longevity. Our clinicians are from various avenues and fields that offered diverse building tools to help sculpt and mould a well-rounded artist. On behalf of Aprile Millo and Dr. Maria Vetere, we wish these artists every possibility, joy in the fact that their voices bring healing and peace to those around them, and a successful long career. A deeply special group of individuals with unique gems in their throats. Each and everyone of them has what it takes and we can’t wait to see it. Our prayer for these times is that we can get back to live singing in a safe and efficient way so that art and music can continue it’s work in healing and expressing the deepest measures of the human soul. Congratulations to our 2021 artist roster.

The cast of Verdi’s La Traviata, sung in such a heartfelt manner and with such attention to the text. This powerhouse opera was met with glorious tones and stile Verdiano by these artists. A special mention to the two leads, Argentinian soprano Valeria Rodriguez, and Canadian tenor Joel Ricci who were outstanding. Equally matched by a most sympathetic Germont in American Bass-Baritone Joseph Wilson.

So far, the highlight opera of our program, the cast of Lucia di Lammermoor, with stupendous singing and two young leads that astounded with discipline, old-school phrasing and tone to boot. Congratulations to American soprano Emily Casey and Canadian tenor Joel Ricci, surrounded by a supporting cast that would be stellar in any house. Bravi! Maestro Bonynge would’ve been very pleased by your discipline and your exceptional colours.

Verdi’s Il Corsaro opened our 7th day with stupendous singing based on authentic and proper pronunciation with beautiful phrasing and exciting acuti from all our artists. A standout is rising young Canadian baritone Alexander Leigh who is the authentic voce Verdiana required for the very difficult role of Seid. Stay tuned for him and these other amazing voices.

Influenced by the incredible example of our diva and the invaluable instruction of our beloved Maestro Richard Bonynge over the years. We cannot wait to be with him again and we remain devoted to this music and the wash of emotions it brings.

Tonight’s lecture by Operavision Co-Founder, Musicologist and Soprano Dr. Maria Vetere invited our artists to impress different ideologies on opera. The opening of hermeneutic windows surely illuminates what might not always be on the surface.

An evening spent on educational elements and mental health, which is so important for a singer, especially during pandemic times. We were honoured to have New York based therapist Claudia J. Albetta with us this evening. It was wonderful to hear the advice, informed guidance, and to see the immediate openness the artists had in their asking questions and sharing their emotions infront of their colleagues and her. What an enlightening event and life altering for many. Grazie Ms. Albetta. You changed us!

An historic afternoon with who passed on to us the inimitable interpretation of Baby Doe from Beverly Sills. How beautiful this opera is and stupendous singing from rising American coloratura Catherine Wethington and her outrageous floated piani. Her cast, equally beautiful. Bravi!
