This afternoon, the newsroom leadership at six major outlets in Philadelphia sent this letter to District Attorney Larry Krasner.
The message: we stand for free and fair access for all journalists.
"A press conference open to some members of the media should be open to all," said KYW Newsradio program director Alex Silverman. "To deny access to a reporter who covers the crime and justice beat in our city raises serious questions about how the District Attorney’s Office views a free and fair press."
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office did not allow KYW Newsradio's Crime and Justice reporter, Kristen Johanson, to enter a news conference open to other media outlets Wednesday afternoon.
Behold, the making of the updated sound of KYW Newsradio, with help from some talented Philly musicians and of course, Gritty. Enjoy!

When a Trump administration official heard a 🏳️🌈 flag would fly on the national monument at Stonewall, he and others made sure the U.S. government would be able to say it's NOT theirs. Read the emails obtained by WCBS Newsradio 880:
As they march through America’s national monument to LGBT rights near the end of this weekend’s Pride parade, tens of thousands will pass a flag that, at a glance, is just like countless others. But this rainbow -- the first to fly permanently on public land in New York City -- followed a puzzli...

As Pride Month begins, New York City is investing nearly $10 million to help LGBTQ kids with nowhere to go, because in many cases their families have rejected them. Alex Silverman heard from 2 city officials who know firsthand the importance of parental acceptance.

"It isn't Seattle, where you debate whether to get your high in the morning or the evening, and it’s not San Francisco, where the debate is whether or not I should even go to work that day. This is a work-oriented culture; we need the subway and we need the commuter systems working.”

"You are a child. I am the district attorney of Etowah County. If you tell anyone about this, no one will believe you." Alabama businesswoman Beverly Young Nelson became the fifth to accuse Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual misconduct with minors. Nelson brought her high school yearbook, which she said Moore signed when she was a waitress and he was a regular customer in the late 1970s. Here is what Nelson said Moore did to her one night when she was sixteen. He had offered to drive her home. Nelson, a self-described Trump supporter, said this "has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats. It has everything to do with Mr. Moore's sexual assault when I was a teenager."
Here is what former production assistant Mimi Haleyi says Harvey Weinstein did to her in his SoHo apartment in 2006. Be advised. It is extremely graphic, disturbing, and if true, monstrous.
