Eight years after a traffic police officer disappeared in Acapulco in 1995, a lighthouse keeper finds this.

March 2003.
Lighthouse keeper Esteban Aurelio Guerrero Santana had been maintaining the Punta Diamante lighthouse for 15 years when he found the police badge among the rocks.

The previous night's storm had stirred up sand and sediment that had accumulated for years.

"It can't be," Esteban murmured, wiping the corroded metal with his shirt.

Officer Roberto Miguel Morales Vázquez, municipal traffic police officer.

He recognized the name immediately.
All of Acapulco remembered the police officer who had disappeared in May 1995 without a trace.

The searches stretched for months.
The family never found answers.

Esteban put the badge in his pocket and continued inspecting the rocks.

Fifteen meters away, partially buried, a black leather strap protruded.
Pulling it, a police belt emerged, complete with a gun holster, handcuffs, and a portable radio.

The radio was shattered by salt spray, but the handcuffs still bore the engraved serial number: AC, TM 11:47.

Esteban knew he should report the find immediately.

He walked to his 1982 Honda motorcycle and drove straight to the municipal police headquarters.
The gray concrete building stood in the center of the city, always bustling with activity.

"I need to speak to the commander," he said to the officer on duty.

"What's this about?"

"I found this."

Esteban showed his police badge.

The officer on duty, whose badge identified him as Officer Primitivo Cárdenas López, examined the object carefully.

"Wait here."

Five minutes later, a heavyset man in his 50s appeared.

His immaculate uniform and the three gold stars on his shoulders identified him as a commander.

"I'm Héctor Inocencio Ruiz Mendoza, commander of the municipal police. Did you find this?"

"Yes, commander. This morning after the storm, it was among the rocks by the lighthouse."

Commander Ruiz took the badge and examined it carefully.
"Roberto Morales disappeared eight years ago. Did you find anything else?"

Esteban handed him the complete police belt.
