Four adjunct faculty members at Brooklyn College have been fired over the recommendations of their departments. All four faculty have been involved in the Palestine and the CUNY PSC is saying that this has all appearances of an “ideaological purge.” This comes a little over a week after Chancellor Felix Matos Rodriguez testified before Congress, touting his disciplining of 4 faculty, multiple students and increasing policing at CUNY.

This attack on free speech and the movement for Palestine opens the doors for more attacks on students and faculty, as well as on the right to protest. These four faculty are the canary in the coal mine for deeper and stronger attacks. We must stand firm against these firings. If they touch four of us, we all rise up!

We encourage unions, all workers, students and people concerned with the attacks of the Trump administration to join us at the gates on Bedford Avenue directly outside Brooklyn College on Thursday, July 31 at 4:00pm to protest these firings and demand their reinstatement!

Tomorrow the House Education and Workforce Committee will hold yet another hearing on antisemitism at universities. The far-right politicians leading them don’t care about Jewish people, students, or education; they use these hearings to attack the Palestine movement, q***r people, Muslim people, the Left, and universities.

California farmworker, Jaime Alanís, is the first known person to be killed during one of the Trump administration’s ongoing immigration raids. His death is on the hands of the Trump administration and ICE.

These are clear attacks on immigrant workers. The United Farm Workers put out a statement saying “These violent and cruel federal actions terrorize American communities, disrupt the American food supply chain, threaten lives and separate families.” All unions and workers must take up the fight for immigrant rights and against ICE and Trump’s attacks.

CUNY is purging pro-Palestine students and faculty. At least four pro-Palestine faculty have been fired and at least one student has been suspended. It is time to stand up and fight back against what is being dubbed “the new McCarthyism”: a wave of attacks on universities, free speech and the movement for Palestine.

On the latest episode of our podcast, All That’s Left, we interview Sasha Yaropolskaya, a Russian revolutionary trans activist and immigrant in France, about the rightward shift on LGBTQ+ rights. We discuss what it means to be at the end of the era of progressive neoliberalism, and how decades of pursuing a strategy of lesser evilism has led to betrayal for the oppressed.

But LGBTQ+ people are not powerless in the face of these attacks. The antidote is working-class unity and revolutionary politics to overcome the Right’s divisive tactics. On Tuesday this week, Trump threatened to arrest NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, falsely questioned his citizenship, and floated defunding the city if Mamdani wins. GOP officials echoed calls to denaturalize and deport him. A sector of the Democratic party—the very party that Mamdani is trying to sow illusions in—like the likes of Kirsten Gilibrand, have joined in on the racist attacks.

If Trump can threaten to deport a U.S. citizen who won one of the most high-profile races in the country, it only means more violence, brutality, and harassment for others, especially those who dare to speak up. We can’t allow this attack to pass and must denounce it alongside the attacks on immigrants, the Palestine movement, and the Left.

While Mamdani funnels outrage into the Democratic Party, these threats show elections won’t stop the Far Right. We must mobilize now—not in November—to defend immigrants, pro-Palestine activists, and the Left. It’s essential that we mobilize against these attacks wherever we are strongest: not at the ballot box behind the Democratic Party, but in the streets, in our schools, and in our workplaces.

In the early hours of Saturday, the Trump administration bombed Iranian nuclear facilities — the first direct U.S. strike on Iranian soil in 45 years. This marks a dangerous escalation in the imperialist offensive in the Middle East.

The attack, carried out with B2 bombers and naval destroyers, was coordinated with Israel’s Netanyahu government, which is seeking to extend its genocidal war beyond Gaza. Missiles targeted Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan sites. Hours later, Trump threatened “much worse” unless Iran halts all uranium enrichment — a demand for total submission to imperialist blackmail.

This is not about peace or democracy. It’s about U.S. dominance and defense of Israeli apartheid and genocide. The same powers stockpiled with nuclear weapons now claim the right to decide which nations can develop any capacity for defense — while they carry out war crimes across Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran.

We stand for the defeat of this imperialist and Zionist aggression. That does not mean supporting the Iranian regime. The Islamic Republic is deeply reactionary — brutally repressing women, workers, and dissidents. But U.S. bombs won’t bring liberation. Ask Iraq, Libya or Afghanistan.

Inside Iran, in exile, and in the streets, many Iranians are rejecting both the Islamic Republic and imperialist aggression. Their voices must be amplified. They remind us: liberation will not come from the sky, but from mass struggle below.

The response must be global. In the U.S., youth and workers have shown they are willing to fight — from Gaza encampments to walkouts against Trump’s attacks on immigrants. Across the world, millions have marched for Palestine.

We must connect the dots. Gaza and Iran are not isolated crises — they are flashpoints in a decaying world order. It’s time to build an international, working-class, anti-imperialist movement. One that links Palestine, Iran, and every front of struggle.

After over 100 days in detention, Columbia University graduate and pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, has finally been released from federal custody. Speaking to reporters after, he said, “No one is illegal — no human is illegal.”

Khalil’s case — as one of the first target of Trump’s attacks on freedom of speech — galvanized widespread support, with millions rushing to his defense. His freedom is an important victory for the movement for Palestine, as well as all those who against the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza, and it is a win for all those who have been fighting to stop Trump’s efforts to shred our most basic rights.

Released on bail, Khalil still faces a legal battle ahead. It is essential we continue to fight for the state to drop all charges, against Khalil, and all being attacked for standing with Palestine!
