For the December #ArtIssue - we interviewed and curated four OUTSTANDING @fitnyc students into our paper. We took them into the photo studio and asked them about their lives, art, and achievements here at FIT. @dillon.okeefe is our last artist feature we curated into this issue.
.
In an intro essay written by @stevenmcontreras, Steven states about Dillons’ work - “Everything in O’Keefe’s illustrations is tested with the same intent, and transformed into a psychedelic experience, over stimulating our eyes and showcasing his ability to define every detail that fills his worn sketchbooks and illustrator files.
.
We’ll be posting his work throughout the day!

Alexandra Espinosa’s piece “Show Me The Real You” - 15’x18’ oil on canvas.

“Art is an extension of who I am. It has granted me an escape, a path to where I can finally not only express my- self as a person or artist, but to explore, experiment, and experience life differently, more freely. Growing up, my youth was robbed by depression and anxiety. I was mere- ly existing, not living. Despite those unfortunate circum- stances, with time it has allowed me to use that negative energy that has harbored within to create such pieces centering what I envision and the core of who I truly am. Simply liberating myself to finding myself once again.”

For the December #ArtIssue - we interviewed and curated four OUTSTANDING @fitnyc students into our paper. We took them into the photo studio and asked them about their lives, art, and achievements here at FIT. Alexandra Espinosa, @iz_alex is a fantastic fine artist who has taken to her canvas and art as an extension of herself.
.
In an intro essay written by @stevenmcontreras, Steven states about Alexandras’ work - “Espinosa’s paintings bleed into one another; evolving from abstract form into solid portraits - filled with duality and contemplation. As each work “Phases” into one another, the movement they carry transform the way I encountered them.”
.
We’ll be posting her work throughout the day! Everyone have a wonderful winter break and stay up to date with what we’re doing on Instagram! We’ll be dropping an online link to all of our newspaper issues online soon!

“Live House”, a term translated from Japanese refers to a small music venue that specializes in underground music genres such as Rock, Blues, or Folk. NYC has its own rich Live House culture that has a exciting history of underground music. Our writer @victoriayajie highlights 7 different live house you can go to - and describes the setting, vibe, and music genre in which these spaces operate with. If you need a night out and a break from the end of this semester, be sure to go to one of these places highlighted in our November #MusicIssue.
