Today is our holiday party at work, and we spent a good chunk of the afternoon decorating - see my stories for the finished product!!! 🎄❤️ This + the little snow flurry we had this morning are majorly getting me in the Christmas spirit. 😍🎉

In other news, I’m continuing to love THE BONE KEEPER by Luca Veste!! I’ve now hit a point in the story where the author is weaving a “past” storyline into the present, and it is CREEPY and totally effective. 👌🏻 This book does an excellent job blending the “urban legend” creepiness with a gritty procedural - it’s both methodical AND a touch horror inspired, and it’s fantastic. 🙌🏻 I’m finding that I want to take my time reading this one - it’s a very layered plot, so I’ve been taking my time & making sure I’m connecting all the dots alongside the cops 🕵🏻‍♀️ and I’m LOVING it!

Anyone else love a good procedural?! There’s nothing like a layered mystery that lets you really dig into an investigation alongside the book’s police officers. 🕵🏻‍♀️

We are delighted to congratulate Johan Harstad and translators Edith Koenders and Paula Stevens on receiving the 2018 European Literature Prize for Harstad's MAX, MISCHA, & THE TET OFFENSIVE. Given by The Dutch Foundation for Literature, this award is presented to the best contemporary European novel to appear in Dutch translation. This novel is nothing short of a masterpiece, and at over 1,100 pages, this prize is quite an achievement. BRAVO!
