Latino democrats are reportedly encouraging Joe Biden to to take a page from Bernie Sanders’ Latino outreach playbook, which propelled Sanders to big wins in Nevada and California. What will those outreach efforts look like? And how will they resonate with a diverse set of Latino voters, especially younger voters? We’re digging in. #PBSLatinoVote #PBSLatinxVote 📸 @bearguerra

If you haven't checked out the great Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival (March 26 - 29) yet, you really should. We had an amazing opening night screening of HARVEST SEAON (Independent Lens | PBS ) there last year - and also caught some great docs. One of our highlights from 2019!

It feels like yesterday that HARVEST SEASON kicked off #SDFF2019 as our Opening Night Film at a sold-out screening.

Our audience had the chance to hear from Director Bernardo Ruiz and the people spotlighted in the film. This one hit close to home, as the film delves into the lives of people who work behind the scenes of the premium California wine industry during one of the most dramatic grape harvests in recent memory.

Since screening at SDFF, HARVEST SEASON has gone on to screen at festivals across the world, gaining accolades along the way.

Who saw HARVEST SEASON?

The unsung heroes of the industry are the vineyard workers and small producers, who lovingly oversee all aspects of the wine-making process, from vine to vintage. Unfolding over the course of one of the most dramatic harvests in history, Harvest Season follows three people whose lives are rooted in wine making, immersing the audience in the challenging and unpredictable process. This film addresses critical issues in the area including environmental protection & California wildfires, immigration & border walls, and affordable housing & workers’ rights.

“The film highlights a Napa that is often invisible to most visitors,” Lilia Soto, an American Studies professor at the University of Wyoming said. “These invisible people have always been here.”
