Orchard Literary is proud to offer its first workshop in our winter learning series: Publishing Today – a practical class about how and where to successfully publish your fiction or nonfiction work. The two-hour program will empower students to get published across all markets, compose winning query letters, book proposals and pitches, and give expert advice on how to find and work with a literary agent.

The workshop is taught by Lucas Hunt, Director of Orchard Literary, and former rights manager and agent at The Philip G. Spitzer Literary Agency. Mr. Hunt has helped cultivate the careers of award-winning authors such as Michael Connelly, James Lee Burke, Andre Dubus III, Simon Van Booy, and Jamie Maslin, and is skilled at advising authors and connecting them to appropriate editors of all kinds.

Mr. Hunt will offer valuable insight into the industry from both an agent’s and editor’s perspective. We will discuss both traditional and contemporary publishing options, as well as digital, foreign, and film rights. The purpose is to provide authors with knowledge-building confidence, in order to create the best platform and plan for publishing their work. The workshop is for authors with finished manuscripts, as well as those just starting out.

Our workshop is being offered on December 15th, 2014 from 6.30 – 8.30 p.m. and is limited to seven students. The cost per person is $150. Email [email protected] to reserve.
