ISO a showcase for talented female performers? QUILTERS is the show for you. This theatrical masterstroke, which received six 1985 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score, calls for a cast of seven women, plus a flexible ensemble. Orange County School of the Arts' Troupe 6826 rode QUILTERS to 2020 International Thespian Festival main stage recognition in 2020, marking OCSA's first-ever ITF main stage invitation. Don Amerson, the school's theater instructor and the director of Troupe 6826, said this about the first time he observed a rehearsal: “It’s almost impossible to do it justice trying to describe it. You are going to come out of this transformed in a different way than you’re normally transformed in theatre. It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, it doesn’t matter where you come from. Even though these are distinct stories, there’s a universal appeal.” Read a full profile of the OSCA production at bit.ly/BLQuiltersITF, and explore QUILTERS at bit.ly/BLQuilters.
