: Document which writing times were most productive and capitalize on your most productive times.⏱

Here are a few questions to ask yourself when you look back and analyze your best writing times:
1. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
2. Did you find yourself getting the most done over the weekend or during the week when you had a set schedule? 3. Which months did you kick your writing into high gear?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once you figure out your ideal writing times, you'll be able to capitalize on those moments and get more done.

Books are the BEST gifts!

Check out LUZ by Debra Thomas, Author

Alma Cruz wishes her willful teenage daughter, Luz, could know the truth about her past, but there are things Luz can never know about the journey Alma took to the US to find her missing father.

In 2000—three years after the disappearance of her father, who left Oaxaca to work on farms in California—Alma sets out on a perilous trek north with her sister, Rosa. What happens once she reaches the US is a journey from despair to hope.

Timeless in its depiction of the depths of family devotion and the blaze of first love, Luz conveys, with compassion and insight, the plight of those desperate to cross the US border.

A great book to snuggle up with under a blanket with a cup of tea. A wonderful gift!

05.31.2022: A loss that gives hope

This title is somewhat eyebrow raising. After a few years of absence from this fabulous She Writes group, such causes me to pause and confess on my then and now life.

Since the last story a few years back, my husband passed away. The passion of writing melted away, no words came out, unable to think. The love that dwells the home with the beautiful rose garden turned to nothing but wilted blooms and branches, colorless, odorless. Time to move away from the images that haunted my being. With Harper in tow, and his lifeless eyes, memories were packed, leaving nothing but sets of footprints on the trek we travelled.

Settled in a nearby town with my daughter who worked for AT&T. Lo and behold, the love of my husband’s rose garden came to life in this new abode. To my delight, I found the energy to plant and nurture the same varieties of roses in my new garden. All twelve varieties, plus the dahlias, alstroemerias, hydrangeas, all adding beauty to compliment with the Martha Washington geraniums my husband loved. Waking up in the morning suddenly became lighter, even trips to the nearby nursery to consult about fungus and diseases that the plants seemed to suffer, became a normal learning experience.

In sorting the old, energy abound to finally write my memoir to honor the new, inspired by the memories of my loving husband Bob. How grateful I am for the lessons learned on kindness, compassion, humility, gratitude, and love.

Now those memories are put in print, hopefully appreciated by readers who can relate on the vast landscape of one's life’s journey. In the memoir, I said, “Throughout my life, gems of wisdom and values my parents mirrored and imbedded in my heart have guided me. I have timeless memories of family, friends, acquaintances, and colleagues who showered meaning into my life as a child and as an adult.”

Good Morning!

My name is Samantha and I am the office manager for San Antonio's HUG ME Ink. We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that advocates for mental health awareness through the arts. We are currently preparing our May issue of Peer Ink Magazine for Mental Health awareness month. We are searching for article submissions from any peer interested in sharing their talents. Here are several prompts we are looking for articles about:
-How has art positively impacted your mental health?
-Has art assisted you through a period of recovery at any point in your life?
-How do you perceive the connection between writing/other forms of art and mental health?
-What relieves your stressors and why?
-Talk about any struggles you have faced and how you have, or plan to, overcome them.
-Describe someone who has been there for you in times of need.

If none of these prompts suit your ideas, feel free to submit any prompt you desire and we can review it to see if it will fit this issue of Peer Ink Magazine or any other coming up.
*The submission deadline is Friday, April 16th for a feature in our May issue*

If you are interested in receiving more information, or in submitting an article, please contact us at [email protected]. For more information about what we do at HUG ME Ink, please visit our website at www.hugmeink.org.

Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Are there any screenwriters here?
Nina Lorez Collins with Brooke Warner from She Writes -
Hi. A while ago, I began to draft articles on the site. As I was working on them I started having trouble maneuvering around on the site. I have been trying to access my drafts to edit or delete them and add new articles, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that. Is there a way to add an article or edit the drafts in my account?
I feel honored to share that my memoir When a Toy Dog Became a Wolf and the Moon Broke Curfew was just named by Nautilus Book Awards as "a gift of hope" among better books for a better world.
