It is the last weekend to see Architecture of Insecurity by STUDIO KYSH—(@ ) at Space776 New York through June 30, 2021.
.
Based on field-surveyed data, the studio’s work extracts the formal essence of generic building façades in their pure form without any material properties. In Gottfried Semper’s sense of symbolic “metabolism”, the work mimics and exaggerates the architectural evolution of the city by displacing and fragmenting the buildings and architectural elements from their origin and context. Their work is to pose more questions about the urban landscape that surrounds us.
.
We are open every day 12-6pm

Happy Father’s day! 💐
.
Flowers aren’t just for Mother’s Day! This Father’s Day, Space 776 is highlighting Gilles Chalandon’s floral works from the current show, Urban Arboretum. Gilles Chalandon(@gilleschalandon) captures extraordinary moments on canvas and paper with his unique method of rendering. His approach to creating art is to execute quick sketches on a drawing pad, what he refers to as “snapping the shot.”

For more information, check the ‘Space776 shop newsletter’ or ‘Urban Arboretum’ exhibition on our website.

Introducing our current residency artist Caroline Bert (@carolinebert_).
Bert is a New York-based artist that challenges the medium of photography through a variety of alternative processes. Her nontraditional techniques investigate light and all the ways it could be used to create images that represent strong movement and lyrical gestures, often tip-toeing the line between abstraction and representational. Bert recently received her MFA degree at LIU Post, and successfully participated in Space 776’s New York exhibition .

Don’t miss your chance to see Space 776’s New York retrospective of Liz-n-Val that captures the pair’s career-long philosophy of finding beauty in the mundane; of making “something from nothing Art.” Liz-n-Val’s miniature figures that are hidden in their sculptures and paintings are both autobiographical and fictive, revealing the artists’ playful nature.

"As a new artist from Korea more than a decade ago, what I needed most at the time was an 'artist community' that exchanged information and communicated with each other. Fortunately, I could participate in the residency program at that time, and the memory of receiving a lot of help through it was the driving force behind this program's continuous operation even at a difficult time."

Liz-N-Val are the founders of Abstractrealism: the philosophy of "something from nothing Art''.
Abstractrealism is the logical outcome of Abstract Art and Realism. As proprietors of the MuseuM of Abstractrealism, Liz-N-Val have long been fascinated by the play between the representational and the real. Doing what Liz-N-Val do best: making people wonder. Quite without irony, Liz-N-Val remain
committed to the idea that art can and should be at once magical and truthful-as Liz once described it, the go-go dancer’s dream of the meditative state.
