So many names for our parent’s mom: Grandmother, Grandma, MeeMaw, MawMaw, NiNi, GiGi, Lola, Abuela…but for me, it’s always gonna be Big Mama.
If you’ve known me for longer than an hour, then you’ve heard about my Big Mama. How I went to college just 30 mins from her house and spent most weekends visiting her. How much of my love of cooking and serving others comes from her. And that she made the best biscuits I’ve still ever tasted, to this day. Many of my friends met her, even if just once, and she asks about them to this day, checking in to make sure life is treating them right.
She prayed fervently and lived faithfully. And was always there to give you sound advice, even if her straight shooting delivery came across as sharp. There wasn’t a person who met her and left unchanged for the better.
Yesterday, Allie Mae went home to The Lord, my Big Daddy, Uncle Donnie and all of her friends and family she’s watched pass on in her 92 years of life. And while this plane of existence lost one of the greatest to ever exist, heaven just gained a real one.
Keep them on their toes Ms. Allie!
