It is very obvious to an IELTS examiner when students insert ‘complex’ words into their writing because they think this will impress the examiner. If you do this it looks unnatural and your coherence and cohesion suffer. You need to display a wide range of vocabulary but you should do this appropriately. Learning a list of words and then dropping them into your essay, without really thinking about the meaning, will cause you big problems.

If you are NOT 100% sure about a word don’t use it. You should be aware of not only the meaning of the word but also its form, collocations, and synonyms.

There are two words which are light on the tongue, heavy on the scale, and loved by the Most Merciful: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdi, SubhanAllahi al-azeem (Glorified is and is He, Glorified is Allah the Most Great).

Sahih al-Bukhari - 3202
On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA): He said, The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, The sun and the moon are two signs from among the signs of Allah. Solar and lunar eclipses are not caused by someone's death or birth. So remember Allah when you see it happening.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 73, Hadith 135)

This hadith highlights the importance of self-control and restraint, teaching Muslims that true strength lies in one's ability to manage their emotions, especially anger, in a balanced and righteous manner.
