The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute - New York The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute is dedicated to the ideals, values, and vision of the Lee Strasberg Method. The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute is a school for the performing arts located at 115 East 15th Street in New York City, and at 7936 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, that is dedicated to teaching The Lee Strasberg Method Acting.

The Institute was founded in 1969 by Strasberg, teacher and artistic director at the famed Actors Studio. It has a special program with the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where students can study in an 8 credit program. The institute is currently under the artistic direction of Anna Strasberg.

Happy belated birthday, Adam Sandler! This LSTFI alumnus has a body of work demonstrating truly incredible range, from slapstick comedies and rom-coms to award-nominated dramas. ⁣

In 2019, Sandler starred in the acclaimed crime thriller Uncut Gems, which quickly became one of A24’s highest grossing films and earned the alum an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead (pictured above). Critics have called Adam Sandler’s work in Uncut Gems the best performance of his career.⁣

Today marks the official theatrical release of Gabriel Bologna’s Tango Shalom, starring Strasberg-trained talents Renée Taylor, Joseph Bologna, and Lainie Kazan!

Students and alumni here in NYC can watch Tango Shalom at the Angelika Film Center or AMC Empire 25. Anyone out in LA can take advantage of The Landmark Theatre’s $7 Tuesdays to catch the film for just $7!

The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute is thrilled for the release of Gabriel Bologna’s new film, Tango Shalom! Tango Shalom is a comedy dance movie about Rabbi Moshe Yehuda, who enters a televised tango competition to save his Hebrew school from bankruptcy. The film features the incredible talents of Renée Taylor, Joseph Bologna, and Lainie Kazan - all of whom studied acting with Lee Strasberg.⁣


Tango Shalom will be released this Friday, September 3rd in select theatres. The red carpet premiere will be held in Los Angeles at The Landmark Theater, but students and alumni in New York can also catch the film at Angelika or AMC Empire 25!⁣

LSTFI alumnus Miles Teller is set to star as Academy Award winning producer Al Ruddy in Paramount's new limited series, The Offer! The 10-episode show will follow the making of The Godfather, revealing inside stories from the film's production.

We are so excited to see an alumnus take on this project - especially as the original Godfather films were studded with Strasberg-training talent including Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Lee Strasberg himself!

We’re so excited to see LSTFI alumna Lady Gaga and Lee Strasberg-trained Al Pacino take on the upcoming biographical crime film, House of Gucci! ⁣

Gaga stars in the film as Patrizia Reggiani, an Italian socialite convicted of orchestrating the assassination of Maurizio Gucci - her ex-husband and former head of the Gucci fashion house. The star-studded cast also features Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Salma Hayek.⁣

A huge congratulations goes out to alumnus Giuseppe Schillaci on his role in the 2020 drama, Persian Lessons! Set in N**i Germany, the film follows a young Jewish man who pretends to be Iranian in order to avoid ex*****on in a concentration camp. Giuseppe takes on the role of Marco Rossi, an Italian Jewish prisoner.⁣⁣

Persian Lessons first premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2020, and is due soon for a US release. We can’t wait!

Italian actress Eleonora Duse was a great inspiration to Lee Strasberg and in the development of The Method. This scholarship represents the relationship between these artistic influences and the Institute’s role in supporting future generations of vibrant international actors.⁣

We are thrilled to present Diana Salina as the 2021 Eleonora Duse Scholarship recipient! We have been so impressed by Diana’s passion, achievements, and excitement and cannot wait to welcome her through our Red Doors!⁣

The switch to remote teaching during the pandemic has proved how effectively The Method can be taught and applied in online classes. With the use of this new virtual platform, our Alumni Classes are able to expand and include former students from across the globe! Students must have completed two semesters to be eligible.
