Down for the Count

Down for the Count

Here at Down for the Count, we're missing performing live music for you.... so we decided we'd dust off the dinner jackets and ballgowns, pick up our instruments, and sing, play and dance from our living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and offices in tribute to our amazing NHS staff.

If you enjoy watching the video, please consider showing your support to NHS staff (and other healthcare workers around the world), who are going to such efforts to keep us all safe, by clicking the button to DONATE to NHS Charities Together.

You can also sign up to Down for the Count's Mailing List to find out when you can come and see us live:

This video was recorded entirely at home in isolation by Down for the Count, The City String Ensemble and a few special guests! We suggest you watch it at least 3 times so you don't miss any of the best bits ;-)

It's our version of "Let's Face the Music and Dance" (Irving Berlin), originally arranged for Nat 'King' Cole by Billy May. Our version has been transcribed and adapted by our musical director Mike Paul-Smith and the video was edited by Sophie Poteratchi.

Bare Feet with Mickela Mallozzi

Bare Feet with Mickela Mallozzi

WOW! What an exhilarating morning – and I’m here with my parents with Papa Mallozzi is in tears, of course! I’m so incredibly proud of this moment, a piece on me and the new #BareFeetDNA season in the The New York Times! A DREAM COME TRUE! It’s been a 9-year long journey so far, and to be honest, this new season almost didn’t happen for so many reasons. I will never be able to explain how much I love the work I do. This is absolutely a labor of love, and somehow along the way, this little show has touched so many people. It has taught me so much about myself, about the world, and about how people are hungry for real, genuine, heartfelt stories about other people. Thank you to everyone who has supported the #BareFeetSeries over the last 9 years – thank you to my incredible ballet teacher Dieter Riesle, whose training helped me work on my arabesque since I was 7 years old (Dieter, we’re in the NY Times!!), and of course to the people who I have danced with, who have shared their music with me, and who have opened their doors to me with love, over and over again!

Thank you Casey Hatfield-Chiotti for letting me share my approach to travel with you, I can’t thank you enough 🙏❤️
