Worldbuilding is brutal work. I’ve been grinding away, rubbing my three brain cells together trying to spark something close to a masterpiece. The problem is it feels like everything has already been done. Every fresh idea seems to brush up against something familiar and carving out originality means steering through waters others have already charted.

Some pieces of my world are inspired by those that came before. Others end up resembling them completely by accident. But that is human nature. We recognize patterns. We compare. We connect the dots even where none were meant to be.

So I’ve come to accept that the world I’m building isn’t some perfectly untouched creation. It’s more of a melting pot. A great simmering stew. Familiar ingredients are in there but they’re seasoned in ways that feel unique to me and to the story I want to tell. A world both strange and comforting stitched together from scraps of the known into something that I hope will feel unknown.

And here is the truth. This isn’t just about me. If this game succeeds my dev crew gets paid and they definitely deserve to get paid. Their work and their faith in me rides on whether this world I’m building holds weight. If I fail the lore I fail them. That is the pressure and the fuel that keeps me pushing to make this world worth believing in.

It’s one of those nights.
I’m awake... too tired to sleep. My body aches in that pleasant way only hard work can bring, the kind of ache that lingers after you’ve poured yourself into something that matters. The cool night air drifts in, inviting reflection.
