✨ I’ve been seeing so many dreamy posts from Provence lately, and it instantly brought back memories of my own visit to the breathtaking lavender fields of Valensole a few years ago. 💜
If you’ve ever wanted to wander through endless rows of fragrant purple blooms, the Valensole Plateau is one of the most magical places in France to do it — and guess what? The lavender fields are in full bloom right now! 🌿✨
✅ When to see the lavender: The season usually runs from late June to mid-July, depending on the weather each year. This year, Valensole is at its peak — the fields are at their most vibrant from now until about mid-July, when the harvest starts. So if you’re in the South of France soon, this is the moment!
📍 Where to go: The Valensole Plateau is famous for its rolling purple hills and picture-perfect spots near the village of Valensole. Take a drive along the D6 and D8 roads — you’ll find endless lavender rows, plus hidden fields away from the main crowds.
🚗 How to get there: Valensole is about 1.5 hours from Aix-en-Provence and 2 hours from Marseille. The easiest way to explore is by car — that way you can stop wherever catches your eye and enjoy the fields at your own pace.
💜 Fun fact: Alongside the lavender, you’ll often see golden sunflowers and wheat fields — the patchwork landscape is absolutely dreamy. Many local farms also have small shops where you can buy lavender oils, soaps, and other artisanal products straight from the source.
🌅 My tip: Visit early in the morning or during golden hour for the best light and fewer tourists. Always respect the fields, stick to the paths, and support local farmers if you can.
So, who else is adding the lavender fields of Provence to their summer bucket list? 💜🌾✨
