DEPUTY FRANK SLOUP & MICHAEL FENDER MOCK ANIMAL NEGLECT AND ABUSE ON PD LIVE, A&E

A concerned citizen knocks on her neighbor's door wanting to put plywood over the dogs dilapidated dog house. They are clearly neglecting and abusing their elderly dog by leaving them outside all the time including in the rain. The officers tell her she could be arrested. She then tells them the old dog was out in rain and soaking wet that morning.

The heartless officers responses are shocking and heartbreaking and not those of true police officers. Our rescue works closely with many members of the NYPD in many situations like this and I can tell you from experience this is NOT THE WAY CARING OFFICERS RESPOND WHO TRULY SERVE AND PROTECT.

DEPUTY FRANK SLOUP "Well it rained, they are animals, deer all over the desert were soaking wet this morning. I was out in the rain this morning and I am old.

DEPUTY MICHAEL FENDER" I didn't say it but I was thinking it too"

DEPUTY FRANK SLOUP "The moral of the story is mind your own business. Is it on my property? Does it affect my life in any way, manner, shape or form? It doesn't affect you directly.

He goes on to tell the concerned lady to do like Jesus and turn the other cheek. That he has a soft spot or dogs! To call the authorities and they will handle it properly! Really, because the heartless officers are doing nothing to help this animal. In fact, it is our opinion that they are promoting animal abuse by condoning such behavior. Furthermore, the hosts of the show not once make any statements as to how inappropriately this was handled.

People in PINAL COUNTY, ARIZONA know who this dog is as this can't be the first complaint against the owners. LET'S FIND THIS DOG! IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION PLEASE MESSAGE US redemptionrescues.org

"Today is the day that we start training Lucky to accept wearing a muzzle. This picture breaks my heart in so many ways... We tried to make it positive but to her it is not and she cowards down. I cannot believe it has gotten this far. I truly believe that targeting these dogs is not right and we should target the owners. Because of this new law any pit bull or mix will have to be muzzled (be at the end of a short leash) and live life like a prisoner. No more playing ball in a park or running around catching sticks. I am the owner of what we believe is a pit bull mixed with lab. I adopted her back in 2007 when she was just a year old from the SPCA. She has been through so much and now at her senior age she sure doesn't deserve to be muzzled". .
.
This is the face of unjust, outdated, fear-mongering BSL. This is what Montreal signed up for on Tuesday. Fortunately, the SPCA de Montréal is challenging it by suing the City. So stay tuned for more! I would advise everyone to stop donating to any fundraiser (I removed the one I had shared) and not apply for transport / fostering / adoption until we know what happens with the lawsuit. It's most probable they will have to suspend the ban while justice follows its course. Plus, there is no proof of how many dogs actually need transport out of the city. So just stay aware!

9-21-16 BITTESWEET UPDATE ON ROCKAWAY CHAINED DOGS
The three remaining dogs have been taken inside the house by the owners. We have no idea what kind of situation they are being forced to endure behind closed doors and we are extremely worried for them. Thanks to the Captain from a neighboring who we are lucky enough to call a valued friend of RR we are more confident than ever that the dogs will be checked up on, and the owners be properly questioned regarding the dogs. We will continue to update you. Thank you to all of you who have called 311 and the 100th precinct demanding action. This case should have been handled much differently by the 100th precinct from the beginning and we are saddened that once again we have had to rely on one person in the NYPD to do right by these animals.

9-20-16 UPDATE! The 100th precinct met us at the location tonight but they were of no help. Miraculously while we were talking amongst ourselves outside the house 2 seperate fisherman came running up to us saying there was a dog tied up, abandoned by the bay. I asked him if it was a German Shephard and he said yes. It's the 4th dog. They dumped him but now he is safe with us. PLEASE CONTINUE TO CALL 311! And please consider making a life-saving donation to help care for the 4th dog who is safely at our vet. You can make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal [email protected] Thank you for your support. 1 saved, 3 to go!

9-20-16 UPDATE-URGENT ROCKAWAY DOGS CHAINED ILLEGALLY 24/7
MORE CALLS NEEDED! Please continue to call 311 and contact the 100th precinct @nypd100pct 718-318-4200 as well the animal cruelty unit @nypdpaws Politely urge them to do their jobs in this case. You can reference one of my recent 311 complaint number as I don't want to post address COMPLAINT # # XC-09-20-16M1232-82

The police need to do their jobs in respect to the animals that they are now charged with protecting. They send cars over and don't enforce the tethering law or even talk to the owners which they should be doing like I did. They can demand to see the vet records, dog licenses, write summons and enforce the tethering law. It is inexcusable that these things are not being done. We need them to do their job first and foremost.
If owners agree to surrender, which they have not, we will need fosters to house these dogs. We cannot rescue them with nowhere for them to go. If you are willing to help us please email [email protected]
Please help us help these dogs tethered illegally. Call the 100th Precinct and 311 now!

9-19-16 URGENT IN ROCKAWAY! THEY ARE CRYING OUTSIDE AS I TYPE THIS!
Please help politely urge the 100th precinct @nypd100pct 718-318-4200 and the animal cruelty unit @nypdpaws to help these dogs. You can reference my most recent 311 complaint number as I don't want to post address COMPLAINT # C1-1-1307250792

Last week we received an urgent plea begging for us to help 4 dogs tethered on both chains and ropes 24/7 to a front porch in Rockaway. Neighbors had been calling 311 since September 7th and submitting complaints only to have them closed citing no violation. And in some cases the complaints were closed within 3 minutes of filing them. Frustrated with the situation not being taken seriously and desperate for help they called us.

We rushed to the scene that night and immediately we saw 4 dogs on chains so short that they barely had room to move more than two feet in any direction. No one was home but we spoke to other neighbors who confirmed what the others had been telling us regarding the mistreatment of the dogs.

We helplessly watched the dogs repeatedly try and move only to be crudely jerked back in place by their short chains. I called our usual NYPD contact who always helps us in these situations but they were out of the area on assignment and couldn’t help us anytime soon. Knowing it was useless, but not being able to stand the suffering I was seeing, myself and our friend Kim from Sasha's Mission start calling 311 and the 100th precinct putting in complaints.

We waited and waited outside the house. About 10pm we had to leave for a few minutes and instructed one of the neighbors to tell the cops if they came that we would be right back. Sure enough within the few minutes we were gone they showed up. The neighbor reported to me that the officer barely looked in the direction of the house where the dogs were barking. Even after she told him what had been going on he wasn't interested and left. Since then our complaints to 311 quickly closed.

After repeated visits to the house we finally spoke to the owners yesterday. We asked them if they wanted help with the dogs or if they wanted to surrender them. They don't. We told them that it is illegal to have the dogs tethered 24 hours a day. They said they knew and that the dogs are fine. Clearly this is untrue and these dogs are suffering immensely.

Here is just a few moments of our visit. I didn't want them to know I was filming them but while one guy was getting the owner I was able to make sure I got clear shots of the dogs. There is a 4th dog that is way off to the right, a German Shepherd. It is our belief that the dogs are purposely placed where they are in order to warn the occupants when anyone comes on property. Clearly it is also a deterrent to anyone who wants to get to their door. It was reported to us that on July 27th there was a raid on the house at 6am. This morning Kim visited the house and the dogs were soaking wet being forced to stand in place in the rain. Something must be done!

Why won't the police who are now charged with handling animal cruelty complaints and enforcing laws like the tethering law actually do it? Why are we forced to solely rely on one caring officer to do what they all should be doing? It is totally unacceptable and things need to change.

Please help politely urge the 100th precinct @nypd100pct and the animal cruelty unit @nypdpaws to help these dogs. You can reference my most recent 311 complaint number as I don't want to post address COMPLAINT # C1-1-1307250791

TETHERING BILL
New York City council passed a tethering bill outlawing tying or chaining of a dog for more than three hours in a 12 hour period. The bill also prohibits any tethering using heavy chains, or choke, or pinch collars. According to city council dogs tethered inhumanely are more likely to become aggressive an d to bite; the tethering law aims to prevent both animal abuse and harm to humans

Speak up, speak out against BSL

A few weeks back I shared the news that Quebec City in Canada had decided to ban pit bulls and gave until January 2017 to families to "dispose of their dogs". I shared a petition and info about an event. Well, I am please to report that the mayor has backtracked! Things got very heated, the petition reached 60,000 signatures, the mayor received protection from the police, pit bulls were murdered on their properties (poisoned meat thrown on balcony and such), people started to get really angry and 50 dog owners demonstrated earlier this week. On Monday, the mayor announced that he had never intended to implement this, but to simply shake things up to open a debate. 😒😒😒 Wow. Way to speak from both sides of your mouth!! In any case, this gives a bit more time for owners to fight this injustice. The province has commissioned a working group to look at the issue of pit bulls, but it is expected that Quebec will most likely follow Ontario in banning pit bulls anyway. So all in all this is a small temporary victory, but in the end, it looks like our friends in Quebec will have to face the inevitable ☹️ #EndBSL #QuebecCity #pitbull #SayNoToBSLQuebec #jamaissansmonchien

ASPCA president Ed Sayres home demo/protest for Oreo 12-19-09 pt2

11-13-09 OREO, EXECUTED BY THE ASPCA - We will never forgive, never forget. Here we were at the home of Ed Sayres, the then President of ASPCA in one of our many protests of the execution of Oreo, the "miracle dog" who survived being thrown off a Brooklyn rooftop, only to be nursed to health by the ASPCA then put to death while credible sanctuaries were willing to adopt her for life and further rehabilitate her.
