“When I was a child, it was clear to me that life was not worth living if we did not know love. I wish I could testify that I came to this awareness because of the love I felt in my life. But it was love’s absence that let me know how much love mattered. “. preface All About Love by bell hooks

I spend my life sped up as a distraction.
The slow-down has forced me to be basic. Yes. Basic, As I deconstruct my definition...of love.
Week 1 of the Bubble Bath Book Club All about love by Bell Hooks is in full effect.

Absorb the first three chapters this week and we discuss on Friday May 8th at 4:00pm EST ... that’s when Oprah used to come on...remember 🙂 DM me for info

To open our hearts more fully to love’s power and grace we must dare to acknowledge how little we know of love in both theory and practice…We yearn to to end the lovelessness that is so pervasive in our society. This book tells us how to return to love.”- bell hooks

There is liberation in admitting that you don’t know you don’t know. I have reached that point when it comes to love. Admitting that I don’t know love activates my curiosity to investigate love in order to return to love.

VisAbleblackWoman wellness’ BubbleBath Book club starts May 1 with bell hooks’ All About Love New Visions join us!

A MESSAGE FROM JEANINE:
Hi everyone, I'm so grateful you're taking the time to listen to my podcast.
Please consider these plays were written with the intention of being performed onstage. I've made a commitment to myself to keep writing scripts in order to continue to learn how to write during COVID 19 quarantine. The Playwright needs audience to listen to our and experience our stories live. I wrote this play with the intention for the audience to be able to ruminate, think about and discuss the situation my characters find themselves in.
The purpose, to create brave spaces to get to know one another and grow empathy and begin the process of being together, in interracial community.

After you click the link in my bio to listen, Please leave me a message on the podcast and let me know how hearing this play effected you. What did you agree with, what got under your skin and how do you think the impact of systems and White Dominance play on the ability for Black Women and White Women to form trusting community?

Primary food JOY connection always

I have close relatives in my family of origin who live with chronic illnesses, and co exist with neurological disorders.

These loved ones, with the scariest medical diagnoses, are the coolest, most connected to joy people I know. They are connected to joy beyond the health challenges they, by chance, were given.

I’ve asked them how they manage, (some were diagnosed at super young ages others are dealing with rare autoimmune issues as Seniors) they smile shrug and say “Theres no use complaining about it all the time, I gotta live and be happy with the life I have.”

Yes it’s important to articulate challenges and the problems we are going through, we gotta feel all the feels...and at the same time we have to connect to joy.

Full disclosure, I am the WORST with this. I know I’ve turned ex boyfriends away in my past because I allowed worry to consume me. At the end of the day my over talking our my/our relationship and money problems played a big role in those relationships ending. Then I lost friends lamenting about the breakups. I was a problem attention junkie.

When we become addicted to the attention granted when we over-share our problems...that addiction to attention depletes our connection to joy, and creates depression.

Lamenting in despair is like drinking venom.

My relatives who deal with those hard ass illnesses are active in their wellness. They are connected to joy through strong communities of friends. They go to the doctor, take the medications prescribed, they get the surgeries needed and they develop great relationships with their health care providers to save their own lives. They are exercising, rating well and are connected to a spiritual practice. They are too busy taking those positive actions needed to keep their mind right to heal...to ruminate on the negative aspects of their illnesses they can’t control.

My loved ones with chronic illnesses get the support they need and taking that action helps them to connect to joy and...they are a joy to be around and an inspiration in my life.

WRITING PROMPT:
What positive ways can I deal with my problems? How can I connect to Joy even when I’m in the thick of going through life’s challenges? Where’s my joy at...today?

01/01/2020

There may come to be a time, when I won’t be able to eat all the secondary foods I can eat today. I embrace eating real food without guilt, shame or the need to be a part of whatever wellness practice is trending right now.

At this stage in my life my body needs nourishment from my primary foods and I need as many diverse real secondary foods made with love along with daily strenuous movement to live connected to my life’s purpose .

I will be with my body my entire life and when I take time to slow down and tune in....I can be aware of what my body needs to feel good.

Bio individuality is tuning tuning out whatever diet trend is happening right now, and tuning into how your mind body is actually feeling and figuring out what your body needs to be balanced and functioning with optimal health.

WRITING PROMPT:
What is holding me back from paying attention to how I’m really feeling?

I’ve just eaten or drank something. How do I feel after consuming this food or drink?

Do I feel nourished?

Do I feel empty?

Do I want more? Why?

It’s January 1 and VisAbleblack Woman wellness is diving into our January health Coaching focus: Design your day.
Life is lived moment by moment. We reach our goals by taking consistent daily action.

Create a Daily Ritual
Humans thrive on consistency. We learn how to design daily rituals that enable us to live our values and focus on the positive actions that will move us forward connected to our life purpose.

Feel Grounded Empowered and Live connected to Joy!
We identify and include our primary foods in our daily personal practice to check our progress, take stock of our setbacks and celebrate our success.
