These millennials are reinventing the multibillion-dollar education industry during coronavirus

The #coronavirus #pandemic has sparked the world’s largest-ever remote learning experiment. At its peak in mid-April, the virus caused nationwide school closures in 190 countries, impacting 90% of total enrolled learners, or almost 1.6 billion people globally.
That’s been a major learning curve for students, parents and educators moving their teaching online. But it’s also been a boon for one of the world’s fastest-growing industries: education technology.

How CHROs Have Met the Moment

In the past, at big company moments, it was often the #CEO and #CFO breaking the news to employees, shareholders, and other stakeholders. A distinctive feature of the #coronavirus pandemic has been to elevate the role of the CHRO, who is often visibly helping CEOs manage the present and lead their companies into the future.
At Verizon, for example, since March 11, CEO Hans Vestberg and CHRO Christy Pambianchi have led a daily all-hands for the company’s 135,000 employees. At Accenture, Chief #Leadership and Human Resources Officer Ellyn Shook now meets virtually with company leaders twice a week — instead of in-person once a quarter — to discuss key people and operations issues. And at Cisco, Chief People Officer Fran Katsoudas is leading, along with CEO Chuck Robbins, a weekly meeting for all 75,900 employees. : How CHROs Have Met the Moment

From the 'perfect' salary to keeping up with the Joneses, here's how money really affects your happiness

With record unemployment, pay cuts, a turbulent #market and an ever-widening gap between the haves and the have nots, #money is at the forefront of people’s minds more than ever.
But how important is money to #happiness?
The answer is complicated. Research has long looked at how money affects happiness, which in psychology is defined as both emotional well-being, and how satisfied you are with the way your life is going.
Studies have pinpointed the 3salary that people need for happiness, looked at why money doesn’t make us as happy as we expect and posited the ideal ways to spend your money to be happy. Here’s what you need to know, no matter what you make:

Can We Just Work From Home Forever?

It’s obvious that this would be a pretty bad time to be in the #commercial #realestate industry. Right now, over 14 percent of Americans are #unemployed. That’s more than 30 million people. Big name brands have been filing for bankruptcy on a daily basis, so far including J.Crew, Pier 1, Avianca, Neiman Marcus, True Religion and Virgin Australia, among others. Over the past few months, 62 percent of employed Americans have been working from home and three out of five surveyed said they would prefer to continue working from home. So the question has been circling: when and why would we ever return to working at a physical office? #workfromhome #coronavirus #businessleaders #businesleadership

Global political and #business #leaders on the #economic impact of COVID-19
“Unless we open up our #economy, we have millions facing starvation."
That was the straightforward assessment of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on the impact of #COVID-19 during a virtual meeting of the Forum's COVID Action Platform on 20 May.
Khan explained: "In Pakistan, we have 25 million workers who are either [on] daily wages or get paid weekly or are self-employed. When we locked down, like the whole of the world, to stop the spread of the virus, all these people became unemployed. When we're talking about 25 million workers, you're talking about 25 million families and it has affected almost 120-150 million people...unless the men and women work, they cannot feed their families."

The economic impact of COVID-19 on developing economies like Pakistan could ignite a severe humanitarian crisis if the international community does not step up support, the country's Prime Minister said.

It's one thing to keep #employees focused and engaged when times are normal; try doing it during a global #pandemic.
Not only are people isolated — which cuts them off from the usual channels of stimulation and connection — but the uncertainty of the future takes a drastic toll on every employee.
The current crisis calls for specific types of #leadership, but not just one approach will work. Ironically, one style of leadership that has been under attack for years is just the kind needed right now: #command and #control. #businessleaders #leaders #TheSohoLoft

“The only logical reason is that Facebook is playing catch up on that blockchain technology and using ads ban manipulation as a means to that end. The same applies to all those other companies that banned ICO ads.
