My friends and fiends,
my mission has always been to show the power and the clairvoyant brilliance of the horror, sci-fi, and fantasy genres. If I have this title, that will give me a very visible platform to do just that. Colleges all over the country are creating classes analyzing this genre.
Help me be their champion.
Some of you might be thinking that you don't want to be associated with "monster stuff" but when you consider that two films in the last ten years winning best picture have been horror films; that Jordan Peele is considered one of the top filmmakers today, the term "elevated horror" has been given to films including 1918,
and Parasite and The Shape of Water. AND let's not get into all the thespians who are better known for being Gandolf, Picard, Wolverine, and Dr. Strange, than being Macbeth or Hamlet... AND when you think back to the greatest actors of our time, John Barrymore, Frederick March, and Spenser Tracy - ALL of which played Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde OR Christopher Lee being Knighted by the Queen OR Boris Karloff winning a Grammy for the Grinch ... Maybe scary is becoming classy.
Do we really want another sc****ly clad kid drenched in fake blood to win because that photo was shown to the folks at the bar?
