📚 COVER REVEAL 📚 We're thrilled to share the cover for My Name is Harriet Mansoor (NOT Hairy Man Suit!) by Dr. Haleh Massey! This hilarious illustrated middle grade follows Hangameh "Harriet" Mansoor through the WORST month of her eleven-year-old life—complete with bullies, bad grades, puberty, and the possibility of having to move back to Iran because of family money problems. Can she survive sixth grade? Find out May 26, 2026!

Available for pre-order now wherever books are sold! More about the book:

Eleven-year-old Hangameh “Harriet” Mansoor really needs to catch a break. Puberty gifted her a big nose and bushy eyebrows, which make her stick out even more than being the only Iranian girl among all her blonde, blue-eyed classmates. But the sixth-grade camping trip to Camp Cottontail could be the perfect opportunity to turn her middle-school fate around. She’d finally have a little space from her over-protective parents and moody older sister; she’d have some serious fun with her best friend Cathy; and she’d maybe even gather up the courage to talk to her long-time crush, Jeremy.

Unfortunately, a string of terrible luck threatens everything. Her bully, Sarah Gill, starts to date Jeremy and when she catches a glimpse of Harriet’s unshaved legs, she gives Harriet an awful nickname: Hairy Man Suit. But worst of all, her parents announce that money problems might force them to move all the way back to Iran–and soon–sending her far away from her best friend and everything she knows. While Harriet usually tries to blend in as much as possible and keep the peace, she’ll have to speak up and stand up if she wants to solve any of these catastrophes. But can she do it before her family packs up everything to leave the country?

✨ The twins are back! ✨ We're so excited to share the cover for the latest installment in the Tales of the Feathered Serpent graphic novel series: The Hero Twins in the Realm of Fright / Los gemelos héroes y el Reino del Temor! It hits shelves on May 12, 2026.

📚Both English and Spanish editions are available for pre-order now wherever books are sold. Learn more about the story below:

In the age when Maya demigods prepared the world for humans, two of those demigods, twins Hunahpu and Xbalanke, are given a mission by their mother: rescue their father and uncle from Xibalba, the Land of the Dead.

The twins follow the same deadly path into Xibalba where their father and uncle are imprisoned by royalty. They must use all their cleverness, including their magic of song and connection to the animals, to outwit the denizens of the Realm of Fright: mosquitos, macaws, fireflies, and more come to the twins' aid as they spend nights in fright and days playing ball with royalty.

But sometimes, even wit cannot save a demigod. Sometimes, there is a Magic Primeval that has even bigger plans for heroes such as these twins.

Adapted from author David Bowles's retellings and translations of essential pre-Columbian texts like the Popol Vuh, the Tales of the Feathered Serpent series brings Indigenous Mesoamerican stories alive for young readers!

🍃Out March 10, 2026 — Ours: A Story of Loss and Healing by Mandy Settembre, beautifully illustrated by Fran Matsumoto. For families who have experienced pregnancy loss, children's books addressing this reality are few and far between.

🌼This book arrives as a quiet answer to that painful silence in children's literature—offering space for grief, hope, and the bonds that endure. We can't wait to share it with you.

💛Available for pre-order now wherever books are sold. More about the book:

In late summer, a young boy’s parents share the happy news that he’s going to be a big brother. As Mama’s belly grows and Papa builds a crib, the boy wonders what it will be like to share his favorite toys with his new sibling. Then one cold winter day, Mama and Papa return from the hospital with some devastating news–the baby is not coming anymore. This sudden loss leaves the boy and his parents feeling empty inside.

As spring begins, the grieving family starts a garden together to help their hearts heal. By seeing how some seeds take root and flourish and how some seeds never come to be, the boy grows in his understanding of his family’s experience and their resilient love.

Ours is a heartfelt story for families who have experienced unexpected loss and are healing and processing their grief together.

📚Indian No More has been challenged and banned in schools across the country because it tells the truth about government policies designed to eliminate Indigenous peoples.

This week may be , and this coming Monday may be , but these two things aren’t mutually exclusive. Censorship is running rampant, particularly when it comes to silencing marginalized groups like Indigenous peoples. As such, it’s important to not only uplift banned books and Indigenous peoples today, but every day. Support Indigenous authors, resist censorship, and fight for the freedom to read.

📚This , co-owner/publisher Jason Low reminds us: book bans aren't just about books—they're part of a broader attack on truth, institutions, & democracy itself. But resistance is working: 10 states have already banned the bans. Read his call to action in Booklist via the link in the comments.

It's Banned Books Week. The topic of banned books is something Lee & Low is (unfortunately) very familiar with given our commitment to publishing diverse children's books. We don't hide the fact that we specifically focus on publishing diverse titles, nor will we ever hide that fact. It's what we've done since the very beginning, and what we'll continue to do so long as we're able.

This week and every week, we ask our readers to do something for all books that tell marginalized folks' stories: stand up for the banned, and make your voice HEARD. There are plenty of ways you can do this, many of which can be found in our roundup up banned books resources. Take advantage of these resources today via the link in the comments.

Lee & Low Books was heartbroken to hear about the recent passing of Ken Mochizuki, a trailblazing author whose work helped define Lee & Low’s mission from its inception.

Ken’s picture book debut, Baseball Saved Us, was one of Lee & Low’s first published titles in 1993. The story of a young boy playing baseball in a Japanese American incarceration camp during World War II opened a window into a painful chapter of American history that had been largely overlooked in children’s literature. Ken showed us—and generations of readers—that our stories deserve to be told and our histories deserve to be honored.

Visit the link in the comments to read further remembrances from Ken's colleagues at Lee & Low.
