Tent Peg Theater Productions Tent Peg Theater Productions is a not-for-profit theater production company.
Tent Peg Theater Productions is committed to making performance art out of recycled, re-purposed, and re-imagined materials. Tent Peg Productions is named after Yael, a woman in the ancient Hebrew Scriptures, who, when she lacked a traditional weapon, killed her assaulter with the peg of her own tent. We believe that within Manhattan, our city, we already possess all of the resources we need to create dynamic stages. Our goal is to re-imagine our own "tent pegs" into the weapons we need for social change through theater and performance art.

Mission: Become a fan of TPTP on facebook! We will keep you updated on our upcoming shows and events.

ConcealHer: A New Play by Arielle Parkas | The Monitor

Tent Peg Theater Productions is so thank for Lindsey Sullivan's hard work on an article about "ConcealHer."

Sullivan says, "Today, paid models and paparazzi ridden celebrities are not the only ones worried about…no…obsessed with appearing “perfect.” The menacing “Click, click” of the camera shutter has been replaced by the judgmental blink of every eye; the modern woman leaves her house every morning, preparing for battle. Her makeup bag is filled with heavy artillery (or maybe it’s Maybelline). Supposedly, these are her weapons to defend herself. However, ConcealHer bravely and boldly tells the not so easy-breezy-beautiful truth: that, in actuality, these “weapons” are wounding ourselves, the women who apply them."

CHECK the full article out :) Thank you so much, Lindsey.

At a glance, Marymount Manhattan College alumna Arielle Parkas’s ConcealHer appears to be a disorganized make out session with a MAC counter gone wrong. Blush

Tent Peg would love to have a few guests attend our shows at both the Michael Ingbar Gallery and the Greenpoint Gallery who would then write a review about our play, "ConcealHer." So, if you have any friends who write for magazines, online journals/blogs, or newspapers, etc....that could be interested in reviewing our play...send them our way. [email protected]. THANKS!

General information

OUR CURRENT PRODUCTION: ConcealHer is a one-act expressionist farce that presents a hilarious portrait of the struggles faced by women who try to measure up to an impossible standard of “beauty,” as it is defined by an industry which turns insecurities into purchases and profit. Following the high school prom, bar pick up, bedroom antics and wedding day debacle of a “typical” American girl, this play uses humor to skewer the fashion industry oppression that comes between women and their men. Arielle Parkas (Playwright/Director) has been working off-off-Broadway since 2009. Beginning as dramaturg for "In The Red Room" written by Gordon Farrell and presented by Red Productions on the Lower East Side, she went on to direct the one-act play "Prying" by Jamie Gerardi. Last spring she co-directed "Threshold: Six True Stories From Girls Who Broke The Rules." as part of the emerging Red Anthology Trilogy being developed by Red Productions in the Upstairs Cabaret at People Lounge. She is co-founder of the public health based arts program "Positive Health Theater Experience", and facilitated theater workshops at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility and viBe Theater Experience. Arielle Rothbard (Designer) worked on set design for Punchdrunk Theater’s “Sleep No More” at the Chelsea Hotel. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she participated in the Pave Competition for Macy’s and the Rootstein Mannequin Competition for NADI Market Week. She has served as a design assistant at the Salt Space and Pure Luck galleries. Would you like to get involved with the design team or production? Need tickets? Email us for more [email protected] The costumes and set of "ConcealHer" are entirely made out of recycled products with an emphasis on re-using beauty products. If you would like to get involved with our company by collecting used beauty products to be up-cycled, shoot us an email. We would be thrilled to arrange a product pick-up time with you.
