I found her outside, under an old tree, in a secluded corner of the street. The wind was blowing hard, and the night was cold, but she was there, lying down, vulnerable, surrounded by her little ones. She had done her best to create a makeshift shelter, using the few leaves and twigs she had to protect her babies.
When I approached her, she looked at me with an intensity I will never forget. Her eyes were tired, but there was a spark of determination, an incredible strength that said, “I will do anything for them.” And despite that strength, I also saw exhaustion and a glimmer of despair, as if she knew she couldn’t go on alone.
I crouched down gently, speaking in a calm voice. She didn’t move but stared at me, watching my every move. Then, as if she understood that I was only there to help, she lowered her head slightly, a sign that she accepted my presence.
I didn’t hesitate for a second. These little ones and their mother deserved a warm, safe place where they could be together. So, carefully, I brought them all home. She watched me the whole way, still with that maternal vigilance, but she seemed more relaxed, as if she knew she could finally let her guard down.
Once at home, I made them a comfortable space with a soft blanket and food for her. That’s when I saw something incredible: her face lit up. She lifted her head, her tongue hung out slightly, and for the first time since I found her, she gave me a smile. A real smile, full of gratitude and relief.
Her little ones, snuggled against her, slept peacefully. She looked at them with so much love that it brought tears to my eyes. She knew they were safe, that she no longer had to fight alone against the cold, hunger, and danger.
Since that day, she has continuously shown me how grateful she is. Every time I come close to feed her or check on them, she gently wags her tail, looks at me with that sincere smile, as if to say, “Thank you. Thank you for seeing in me more than just a stray dog.”
Her little ones grow a bit every day, and she is regaining strength. Her joy is contagious. She has become a fulfilled mother, watching over her babies with infinite tenderness.
When I look at this scene today, I know I made the right choice. I didn’t just give them a roof—I gained something priceless: proof that love and a gesture of compassion can transform lives. And with every smile she gives me, I think that in reality, it is she who gave me a gift.

I am praying this reaches this young mans parents!!!
Tonight as I was leaving football practice with my three kiddos my 4 year old was so tired he started crying and acting a fool as we were getting in the van. My 7 year old daughter started crying because I told her we were having red potatoes as a side for dinner and clearly she wasn’t a fan sooo I threw my hands up and said FORGET it - McDonald’s tonight!!
We go through the drive through order food all three kids are now crying for one reason or the other I go to pay - I LEFT MY PURSE AT HOME. Welp now I wanted to cry. I look at the young man with tears in my eyes just from being stressed and annoyed and say “hun I am so sorry but I have to cancel that order I left my purse at home when we went to football tonight” WITHOUT HESITATION he takes out his wallet and swipes his card before I could even say “no I will be right back!”
I was like wait no hun it’s ok I will come back through then he replies “no it’s totally fine, my pleasure”.
I snapped a quick picture and asked his name to which he replied Wyatt ma’am. I told him I would be right back with cash for him & he tried hard to talk me out of it.
I just want his parents to know how KIND & COMPASSIONATE your son was tonight! He made this stressed out momma pause for a moment and realize this is exactly what we parents are trying to do, raise great humans. Well Wyatt sir, you are an amazing human!!!
I went back and handed him cash and had to make him take it because he didn’t want to take more than he had paid but I wanted him to know that when you put good out in the world it comes back to you ten fold!
Wyatt, do not let this world change your kind heart young man for its people like YOU that will change this world for the better!

“Literally just had the craziest thing happen to me at Walmart.”
“So, I got off work from working 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. and going back in at 4 a.m. tomorrow. I decide to run to the store and get some things for work tomorrow. While still in my work clothes mind you! While I’m at the store there is a family there with what looked like a 15-year-old and a 6-year-old little boy.
As I walk behind them the little boy starts making funny faces at me. So, me being the father, I am making some faces back! The little boy starts laughing and as his parents look back at me in my dirty work clothes they proceed to rush out of the aisle. I don’t think anything of it until I hear them the next aisle over.
I can hear them basically scolding their oldest child telling them that if they don’t go to college, they will look like me. Never have any money and so on and so forth. Long story short, coincidentally we are both checking out at the same time. The kids are asking for candy bars and their parents are pretty much yelling at them that they don’t have enough money to buy them.
So, what do I do? I proceed to buy each kid two of the candy bars they were asking for and their parents look at me in disbelief and tell me I didn’t have to do that.
I responded with, ‘I know I didn’t have to do that, but I had extra money and wanted to share it with someone today!’
What I’m trying to say is just because someone is in dirty clothes, looks like ass, and probably smells like it too. Doesn’t mean they don’t make good money and have a good heart!
Don’t judge a book by its cover!”

🥰When I was in 2nd grade, Mrs. Moore would read to us after lunch. We would all sit at her feet and she would pull out her Skittle jar. She would hand each of us two Skittles, and I would pray for red and green (together they tasted delicious). She used a paper clip as a bookmark, and while she read she would turn the paper clip in her fingers over and over. While savoring those two precious Skittles, I lived in a Boxcar and also traveled to Narnia, all while thinking that Mrs. Moore was the prettiest and most stylish person.

Teachers...kids remember. They remember details. I know around this time the newness has worn off and it seems like a million years until Christmas break. But one day some 33 year old former student will think of you every time they eat Skittles, and they will appreciate you. Keep teaching and keep loving; it makes a difference!

"At the bar entrance, a sign says this;

We ask all our customers with all our heart not to be bothered by the number of dogs (street) in the Amazon bar. We are a suitable place for pets and love. We give water and food to these sweet angels.

Sorry if it's hard, but they're not doing anything - they're just coming to find food or shelter from the rain.

With $50 in her pocket, Shelli Tench first went into the Walmart in Garner with the intention of spending the last of her money on tee-shirts and underwear for a local hurricane relief shelter.

The shelter had told her that while people were able to take hot showers at their facilities, they did not usually have clean clothes that they could change into – so Trench was determined to spend her $50 on clothes.

Upon arriving at the Walmart, she asked the manager, Jeff Jobes, if she could have some sort of discount for the clothing – and she was stunned by his response.

“When Jeff heard about the plight of the people at the shelter he didn’t give me a discount. Instead, he armed me with one of his associates (Alex) and a shopping cart and told her to fill it on him. $1,251 later, I was able to deliver 254 items of clothing to the evacuees at the Garner High shelter because Jeff the manager loves his community and he proved it with his actions.”

The story does not stop there, however – the next morning, Jobes texted Tench and asked if there was anything else that the shelter needed for the 400 hurricane victims. Tench relayed the message to Jobes only to receive a response reading: “Give me 30 minutes and then come see me.”

By the time Tench pulled up to the Walmart, Jobes and Alex were pulling together piles of donated goods for the shelter.

“They didn’t donate bags of fresh fruit, they donated case after case after case after case of apples and oranges and bananas and Ensure and Boost and Gatorade and Cliff bars and pastries and bread and cookies. My van was loaded to the top. The outpouring of love and support from the Walmart in Garner is unbelievable, the staff at this store are world changers.” says Tench.

To Those Who Say the Village Is Gone,

This is a car seat.

It showed up on my porch today, just two days after I vented to a dear friend. A friend I have never met in person—one of those "online" friends that people laugh at moms for having and relying on.

This friend has sent meals when my child was in the hospital. She was ready to jump on a plane to help me when I was seven months pregnant and in tears while moving across the country. She has listened to me countless times when I felt overwhelmed by my middle daughter's autism diagnosis and treatment.

She has done so much for me. And yet, we have never met.

She listened when I said I felt unprepared for my baby’s arrival—how I still had to pull out baby clothes, organize everything, find a babysitter, get a car seat, and just figure things out in general.

And then, two days later, a car seat arrived at my door.

Not because I couldn’t get one myself, but because she saw a need and wanted to lighten my load.

This is more than just a car seat. It is a reminder that truly good people exist—people who care, people who go above and beyond.

My village.

Today, I was pulled over by the police. At the time, I had a concealed, loaded handgun on me, but I want to make it clear that everything I did was voluntary, and here’s what happened.

The officer came up to my car and asked if I knew why I was stopped. I said I didn’t. He told me that my registration had expired on June 30, 2016. He asked to see my driver’s license, registration, and insurance card. As I kept my hands on the wheel at 10 and 2, I immediately said:

"For your safety and mine, officer, I want to let you know that I am legally carrying a firearm. I have a concealed carry permit, and my gun is in the small compartment under the cup holder, with a round in the chamber and the safety on. There is also an extra magazine with it."

The officer asked me to keep my hands on the wheel and then asked where my gun was. I told him and offered to get out of the truck if he needed me to while he retrieved the gun. He agreed and thanked me for my cooperation.

When I got out of the truck, the officer stayed facing me. I asked if he wanted to search me for other weapons so he could be sure I wasn’t a threat. He said that would be great and asked if I had any other fi****ms or weapons in the truck. I told him I didn’t.

The officer then searched me and retrieved my handgun. He asked permission to get my driver’s license and carry permit from my wallet, and I gave him permission. I also offered for him to search the rest of my truck if needed, but he declined.

Once everything was settled, the officer gave my gun back to me, and I said, "You can just put everything on the driver’s seat, and I’ll get it when we’re done." I thanked him for staying calm, especially since I had a legally carried gun, and he thanked me for my cooperation. He asked me to sign the warning ticket and reminded me to take care of my registration soon.

Before I left, I thanked both officers for their service and told them to be safe, especially with all the recent events happening. I told them that’s why I carry a gun. I shook their hands, they gave me my warning, and I went on my way.

After the tragic events in Dallas and Baton Rouge, I chose to handle the situation in what I believed was the best way.

The lesson here is that it’s about safety and respect. If you treat others with respect, you’ll be treated the same way.

Thank you to the Altoona Police Department for handling the situation professionally and keeping the city safe.

"So, my son Jasper and I were on our way home from Vanderbilt and he wanted CiCi's pizza. I found one in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and we stopped to eat.

We were the first customers of the day. Once inside, I noticed an employee sitting alone at a table having lunch. I later learned that her name is Diana and She appeared to have some mental and/or physical challenges.

While we continued to eat our lunch, I noticed that the young manager, Brandon, came by to clean her table and take her plate away. It was then that I saw something that helped restore my faith in humanity. The manager, Brandon, came back to Diana's table with a napkin in hand and gently wiped her face while she just smiled at him.

As a parent of a special needs child I was almost moved to tears by this simple gesture. Just knowing that there are people like this in the world gives me hope. He didn't know that I was watching but, I assure you I made him aware of what I saw and how much it blessed me. His response was 'I just try to treat people the way my grandparents taught me to.'

I think about how often we are quick to share our bad customer service experiences on Facebook. I think that we should be just as quick to share these experiences as well. So, if you're ever in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.... stop in and see Brandon and let him know how thankful you are for people like him."

This afternoon I took my 4 year old Caden to Hy-Vee to get a few groceries. On the way out I bought some carnations for him to give out as people were exiting. When we were done a store manager, Jamie Stephens, approached us and asked if we would like to hand out some more. Of course we accepted because my boys love doing this and it was so sweet and unexpected to get more to give away. We even had a couple of our recipients give a dollar to buy more.
As we were leaving Caden told me that his “heart was happy”. Hopefully we made a few other people’s hearts happy! Thank you again Jamie!

Earlier today, I saw a veteran sitting with his service dog, and something told me I should say hello. I walked over and asked if I could buy him a coffee to thank him for his service. He smiled and said yes, and chose an iced French Vanilla drink. I also got him a muffin and a small gift card.

As a light rain started to fall, he asked if he could sit at my table since all the other seats were taken. I said of course—and what started as a simple gesture turned into a deep and moving conversation. He told me about his seven years in the military and some tough memories he wishes he could forget. He also talked about his dog, Rolo, who’s being trained to detect IEDs and is scheduled to be deployed in about nine months. He hopes to be reunited with Rolo afterward, but he knows that sometimes, just like people, dogs can come back with trauma too.

He’s originally from California and now works with the VA. Later this month, he’ll be moving to Virginia Beach. We spent about an hour talking about life, little things, and everything in between. It was a special and emotional moment that really lifted my spirits and made my Monday meaningful. Before we said goodbye, I gave him my card and told him to reach out if he ever needed anything.

Mario, I’m wishing you all the best and keeping you and Rolo in my prayers.
