What an amazing weekend. And to think I was just excited to get out of the city for a bit to enjoy the beauty of Hudson Valley and be my good sistafriend's plus one. That was enough for me but then this happened and I am still in shock...

I am still processing what it means to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. Acknowledgments are not always easy for me to receive or embrace. Had I known ahead of time I likely would have declined and suggested other notable people in the industry. While I believe I have accomplished a lot, I also feel I have so much more life to live, more to give, and more work to do.
But I understand the importance of stepping up and giving thanks to those who see you.

That said I still hesitated to post this award. I’m not always comfortable living out loud. I prefer to keep my head down, creating, building, and working quietly. Honestly, had it not been for a hard push from a friend giving me the same advice I give them I would have only posted the honorees who truly deserve all the flowers - Coss, Lu and Andre🏆💐🏆💐🏆💐. No matter how many times I hear your stories I tear up.

Congratulations to Luis Vega, Coss Marte and Andre Brown the true honorees. Your journeys, resilience, and leadership inspire us all to keep building and pushing forward. More people need to hear your stories.

Thank you, Ruben Lindo, for this honor and for creating such a beautiful event that brought the community together in a powerful way. I see the dedication and hard work you and your team put into HerbN Couture, and I truly appreciate it.

A heartfelt thank you to my friend, sister, and colleague Dr. Roz McCarthy for your kind words, unwavering support, and for always seeing me. Walking this journey alongside you has been one of my greatest blessings.

I am forever grateful for this moment and will continue to pass the baton so this energy of passion, knowledge, and building will live on.

As Ruben said 💚

When I say I grew up with hip hop I mean I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard Eric B for President and My Melody drop. These 2 songs had the summer of '86 in a chokehold. I turned 17yo that summer. We danced our a*z off to My Melody. When these songs come on vivid memories of park jams and community room parties of everyone in unison doing the W*P run through my mind. Great times.

gurl why did I remember Tasha Ford's bday party as I watched Rakim last night. Had a total flashback. My Melody dropped and I was back in LP. All I could do was stand there and smile hard - my cheeks hurt 🤣. Nostalgia. Hip Hop Golden Era. The 80s.

Just came from the "Kiss My Grass" screening at the Tribeca Film Festival. I sat there with much pride as these amazing Black women in cannabis shared their truths. Yes it is STILL hard out here for BLACK Cannapreneurs in C@nn@bis to get funding for their businesses. Congratulations to the whole team on this amazing short film.

2025 has been testing my strength, will, faith, intuition, and so much more. But on this day I'm going to celebrate us because we've made it this far and I'm grateful 🙏🏾

Happy Mother's Day to all moms, bonus mom's, grandmothers, godmothers, aunts, like a mom, and more. We pull it together even when life gets tough. Keep your head up.

With Love,
Gia

Thank you Cannabis Now Magazine, for the unexpected profile feature. What I thought would be a small mention turned out to be a cover mention and a 2-page spread, leaving me completely surprised and a bit overwhelmed. I initially kept it to myself, not yet sharing it with my family. However, I did mention it to a couple of friends and shared it on my social platforms to express my gratitude for the opportunity, even though I knew it would disappear in 24 hours. Now, I want to publicly extend my heartfelt THANK YOU.

Reflecting on my activities throughout the year, your December issue provided a wonderful conclusion to the year that I had not foreseen. As communications professionals, we often operate behind the scenes, focusing on our clients. While I enjoy the work and the creative process, I usually avoid being in the spotlight. It took me a while to submit photos, as I tend to prioritize others over myself. Despite my hesitancy and reluctance to participate, this experience pushed me to step out of my comfort zone.

I am known for deflecting attention in public settings, preferring to let others take the lead. However, this article challenged me to embrace visibility. I appreciate Eugenio Garcia and Jamie L. Pearson for the opportunity and Maria Wyllie for our engaging conversation that led to this interview. Thank you, Maria, for sharing my story and making me feel comfortable with my photo submissions. I am sure you could tell I was freaking out a bit. Sharing images amongst friends is one thing, but for a publication viewership for the world to see 😱😖. Your email response eased my nerves. Thank you 🙏🏾.

BTW the cover is 🔥🔥🔥
