In honor of the 60th Anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO, here is a special story from our CEO Michael Fiore:
‘I want to share one of the most special letters I have ever received. Pictured here is a letter from the acclaimed screenwriter of PSYCHO, Joseph Stefano. I had the great opportunity to meet Joseph when he visited my alma mater, NYU Film, in 2003. I had graduated a few years prior but I couldn’t miss the Tisch event honoring Joseph. To my surprise and dismay the theater that sat roughly 500 only had about 50 seats filled. But my enthusiasm to hear Joseph speak filled the 450 or so empty seats. After he spoke and answered questions, we struck up a conversation. Which lead to him asking to see my senior thesis film titled CADAVEROUS. I would later send him a VHS. You read that right — VHS.
I had no expectations to hear from Joseph. Just the fact that he asked to see the movie was enough for me. I mean, he IS Joseph Stefano after all. Soon after the VHS was mailed, not only did he write me the letter (pictured), he also called me on the phone. To say he was a generous man is an understatement. I’ll keep the content of his letter private as he shared a story with me that was rather personal to him. It is truly a treasure of mine that I wanted to share with you to honor his work on PSYCHO and his lasting legacy in film and TV. I thank Joseph for his support and encouragement of a 26 year old finding his way in the film industry in 2003. The impact that his gestures have had on me are immeasurable.’
