Remembering Buffy and Jody from Family Affair (1966–1971)
Family Affair was one of the most beloved sitcoms of the 1960s, telling the story of twin siblings Buffy and Jody who were sent to live with their bachelor uncle, Bill Davis (Brian Keith), with the help of the witty manservant Mr. French (Sebastian Cabot). The show balanced humor and heart, making its young characters unforgettable icons of the era.
Buffy Davis was played by Anissa Jones, who brought charm, mischief, and sweetness to the role. Sadly, Anissa passed away on August 28, 1976, at the age of 18 due to a drug overdose in Oceanside, California. Before her untimely death, she had lived a mostly private life after leaving the entertainment industry.
Jody Davis was played by Johnny Whitaker, the sweet and good-natured younger brother who often added humor and warmth to the Davis household. Luckily, Johnny Whitaker is still alive and occasionally appears at public events, such as the FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention in 2023.
Both characters left a lasting impact on audiences, proving the timeless charm of Family Affair. Buffy and Jody weren’t just adorable kids on screen—they became symbols of childhood for generations of viewers.
