For years, home care workers across New York City have been fighting to end the 24-hour workday. Many of them, primarily immigrant women of color, are expected to care for patients for an entire day, sometimes several days in a row, with only a fraction of those hours counted as paid work.

We spoke with organizers from Ain't I A Woman!? about the fight to end the 24-hour workday, the economics behind it, and how care work continues to be devalued, ahead of their picket this Saturday, October 3, at 12 p.m. at City Hall.

Student debt is doing more than draining artists’ bank accounts. It’s stealing their time, creativity, and ability to build a life outside of work. Drawing on her own experience as a teaching artist, Maddy M. Clifford explores why debt is a labor issue and why artists need to get organized and fight for debt cancellation.

Shadowbanned Cultural Workers Lab presents our next event: Our Images Under Imperialism (2026)

This time, we’re working with kashi 🪷, who has curated a pop-up exhibition exploring how our images move through the internet, and presenting a lecture on e-colonialism with hannah ⋆。°✩.

Many of us have to go to work while the world collapses from flooded roads, to highways that look like the gateway to hell the climate crisis is here and our bosses don't care.

The people who bear the worst of this are delivery drivers, construction and service industry workers primarily who are Black, Brown, immigrant, or low income workers.

The climate crisis is a labor crisis, and that's why you can’t have a liveable planet without a liveable wage.
