Check out the ruins in the photo from southern France. They're what's left of this massive Roman milling complex from way back in the early 2nd century AD. Pretty cool, right? Below, there’s a 3D reconstruction that really brings it to life. This place was no joke—it had 16 water wheels set up in eight pairs, all powered by the river to grind up flour. And get this: it could churn out about 4.5 tons of flour every single day. That’s enough to feed between 30,000 to 40,000 people! It just goes to show you how the Romans were not messing around when it came to engineering. They really knew how to meet the needs of big city life back in the day. This spot is a standout example of how industrialized the ancient world was.
