If you have, please stop. Someone is doing the same thing you are and it's your job to make sure I know how you're special. You didn't just magically become an expert. Tell me your story. I want to know WHY you're the right person to solve my problem.

Your story of origin shows your audience your WHY. Use what you already have to create the content your audience wants to see, authentically tell them who you are and what you stand for.

It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be... YOU

What can you learn from this Geico vid? ...*GET TO THE POINT!* Tell us what you have and how it can help, now you have my attention. From there, just remember your audience is savvy, so have a real conversion. We all know this is an AD, so let's have a little fun. Geico does this consistently - we all know long it takes to get insurance.

NEXT, pay more attention to your Creative. Spend less time figuring out how advertising algorithms work. All that changes daily, but good creative will be effective even 6 years later.

Stop thinking about the content that you giveaway as "Free" - The language you use - even internally - to create content impacts what you produce. Instead, use "Gift" Is it corny? sure - but I guarantee it will change how you approach the giveaway creation/selection process.

it's your advice. it's not a request.
the sentence, "Always say, 'You'" is an opinion. it's Hank's advice of how you should speak on camera.

1. Raise the Stakes

a 'good' piece of advice is a requirement. it IS the answer.
"try saying you" just doesn't have the same ring. in fact, that's a suggestion, which suggests there are times that saying you isn't the answer.. and when you write an Opinion in the media - it's absolute. so speak that way.

2. Actionable

tell me what to do. precisely. make it a verb. what action should i take?
you want to cut through the clutter of advice and opinion out there. making sure it is actionable is the ONLY way to do that.

3. Counterintuitive

it has to catch your interest. 'Wash Your Hands" isn't an opinion. it's common sense. Hank tells people to just say "you" on camera all the time. and they still don't do it..
cuz it feels like it can't possibly be the answer. (but it is, try it.. 'you' is also a plural). how can you tell me what to do, but make it feel a little bit different? Hank Norman
