Guiding.Helping.Others.Survive.Transition
The G.H.O.S.T. Project is a non-profit organization geared toward providing both support and empowerment to members of the transgender community who are either struggling with or have overcome gender identity-related issues. The acronym G.H.O.S.T. stands for Guiding and Helping Others Survive the Transition. This philanthropy based organization is owned and operated by three urban transgender women born and raised in a homophobic southern society design to both subjugate and oppress their gender-related issues. To combat the self-hate and insecurities placed upon them and their community, these organizers host quarterly events that uplift and empower the transgender and gender non-conforming community.

Guess whose back in the house! It is none other than your Black Trans Mother, LaTravious, and the Brooklyn Ghost Project. Get ready because the 2021 Wig Drive is back on and still popping. As I am sure you are very aware of, we are currently enduring a worldwide pandemic that has left so many of us fighting for our lives while quarantined in our homes for the last several months. Unfortunately, we have been task with the dilemma of re-strategizing our methods of communication, transportation, entertainment, and the ways in which we spend quality time with our loved ones. While I am sure these most recent times have been trying for us all, the communities of color have been disproportionally affected by the Covid19 crisis. In fact, the latest available COVID-19 mortality rate for Black Americans is 2.3 times higher than the rate for Asians and Latinos, and 2.6 times higher than the rate for Whites (
