The Crystal Kodada story begins in Manhattan during the 1970’s, where two New Yorkers met while attending the Fashion Institute of Technology. Bill, Crystal’s father, studied production management while Linda, her mother, studied fashion design. Although they were in different ends of the
fashion industry, they formed an immediate bond and became an unstoppable team. Years later they married and had a daughter named Crystal. She followed in their footsteps attending F.I.T. and became a handbag designer in the women’s accessories industry straight out of college. Crystal went on to design for many different brands such as Botkier, Nicole Miller, the magazine brand Cosmopolitan, and Jessica Simpson. Still, something was missing in her career - the freedom and creativity to push the boundaries of fashion to another level. In 2013 Crystal married the love of her life, becoming Crystal Kodada. Her new life and identity inspired her to embark on an adventure to start her own designer handbag line. Crystal’s vision is to create a versatile and timeless product, which will empower women allowing them to be more functional and express their own individuality. Crystal’s life mantra “Everything happens for a reason” became the brand’s philosophy and is used to inspire designs with meaningful purpose focusing on sustainability, functionality, versatility, and individuality all while connecting the brand with positive causes & charities. Staying true to her purpose and story, Crystal produced her first collection in NYC, one block away from F.I.T., which supports the made in USA movement. In 2014, she debuted her first handbag collection “The Experience” during New York’s Fashion Week at a hip downtown spot, PHD, in Dream Hotel’s rooftop lounge. Her launch event was a huge success making her mark on NYC. Crystal’s passion and ambition pushes the Crystal Kodada brand to design for a purpose.
