The MAC-10 was built for compact firepower—then its own speed became the problem.

Designed by Gordon Ingram in 1964, the Model 10 was an unusually compact pistol-caliber submachine gun built around a simple stamped-steel construction. The design eventually entered production through the Military Armament Corporation in the early 1970s, in .45 ACP and 9mm variants. The CZ 75 Hid Its Most Distinctive Idea Inside the Frame.
