Master L**e Tech here. Everybody kept telling me I needed to spend almost $700 on a “professional” lift kit, but I’m not paying $700 for some pieces of metal and bolts when I can fabricate the exact same thing myself for about $38. 😂 All a lift kit does is move the suspension down from the factory mounting point, so I made these extension brackets, grabbed some Grade 8 hardware, and gained almost 4 inches of lift. Literally does the SAME EXACT THING. Before everyone starts crying about “suspension geometry” and “engineering,” remember I’ve been doing oil changes professionally for almost 3 years. If anything, mine is stronger because I used THREE bolts instead of whatever the engineers thought was necessary. Took it up to 75 mph afterward and the steering wheel only shakes a little bit, which tells me everything seated correctly. Some of y’all really need to stop wasting money just because something comes in a fancy box. $700 saved. Master L**e Tech engineering wins again.

I AM FUMING. Dropped my car off to get painted and this is what I’m looking at right now. They’ve got it all taped up and half stripped but it’s been sitting like this for way too long. I was told it would be a quick turnaround and now I’m over here wondering if they even started the actual paint yet. These body shops really be playing with people’s time and money. I already know when I finally get it back I’m gonna be inspecting every single panel like a hawk because I’m not about to pay premium money for some half-assed paint job. Am I overreacting or is this normal now??

Counterfeit bills are showing up around Pennsylvania again, so this is probably a good time to actually look at the cash in your hand instead of doing the usual “yep, looks green enough” routine. Local businesses, gas stations, restaurants, stores, and anyone selling items in person should be paying extra attention, especially with larger bills and those sneaky fake ones marked for motion picture use that can look real at a quick glance. It’s not a reason to panic, but it is one of those very Pennsylvania reminders that even a simple transaction can turn into a whole situation if nobody checks the bill until the drawer is already short.

Pennsylvanians are a hopeful people. We believe in spring after six fake winters, we believe the Turnpike might one day stop asking for our retirement fund, and deep down, we believe there may come a glorious morning when we wake up and no longer have to get our car inspected every single year. Imagine it: no more nervously handing over your keys like you’re entering a courtroom, no more mechanic walking out with that look that says your wallet just got bad news, and no more pretending you understand what a “lower control arm situation” means. Until that blessed day comes, we’ll keep slapping those little stickers on the windshield like survival badges and hoping next year the car passes with only mild emotional damage.

Master L**e Tech here. Need some advice because my shop foreman is being completely unreasonable.

I’m doing my first CV axle and he keeps telling me I have to “unstake” the axle nut before removing it. Apparently that was acceptable in 1974 when carburetors and leaded gas were still a thing, but this is 2026 and I’m pretty sure modern impact guns are designed to remove anything regardless of what some little dent in the nut is doing.

So I put the impact on it and after a few minutes of full power the nut finally came off. Now the end of the axle looks like this and the foreman is standing there laughing instead of helping. He keeps saying things like “that’s why you unstake it first” and “you just destroyed the threads” like he’s some kind of axle expert.

Personally I think the threads are mostly still there and once the new nut starts it’ll probably just clean them back up. Worst case I was thinking maybe a little JB Weld on the threads to rebuild the missing section and send it.

Is there any reason I can’t just reuse this axle or is my foreman being dramatic because he misses the good old days when people hand-cranked engines to start them? Looking for advice from actual technicians, not boomers.
