The Beauty of Humans

The Beauty of Humans Either you are a NY citizen or a tourist, you need someone to keep you up to date with all new event or activities!Stay tuned with NYO! It’s a concrete jungle, alright.

From shore to shore, Manhattan is a dense cluster of historic architecture, steel and glass skyscrapers, charming brownstones, and eclectic retail spaces. And it can be overwhelming. Fortunately, New Yorkers—despite a reputation for being harried and brash—are generally chatty, friendly, and happy to help lost-looking visitors. When locals say “the city,” what they mean is Manhattan, the island flanked by the East, Hudson, and Harlem Rivers that houses most of NYC’s big-name businesses in addition to the bulk of its population (Manhattan is, unsurprisingly, the most densely populated county in the United States). You could spend a lifetime exploring this metropolitan isle alone, jam-packed as it is with diverse neighborhoods, cultural attractions, and ever-changing nightlife, dining, and arts scenes. But Manhattan doesn’t tell the whole story of New York, and it’s well worth venturing into the outer boroughs, which add color and life to the kaleidoscopic identity of the city proper.

Haha, this are some local Lingo of New York City

“What a schmuck.”
What a jerk.

“I took the 3 uptown for a Jamaican beef patty.”
You say "uptown" and "downtown," NOT north and south.

“B & T”
Bridge and tunnel. City slang for referring to non-Manhattanites who need to get into the city via a bridge or a tunnel. Used as an adjective, and generally pejoratively.

“Let’s grab a slice.”
Let’s stop for a piece of thin crust, New York-style pizza, eaten folded in half and in its purest form—cheese and tomato sauce, no toppings, except for maybe a sprinkle of chili flakes, oregano, or dried garlic.

“I was on line at the bodega for a bagel with a schmear, a regular coffee, and a loosy.”
I was waiting in line at the corner store for a bagel with cream cheese, a coffee with milk and sugar, and an individually wrapped cigarette.

“Don’t let the bedbugs bite.”
Not just a bedtime saying in NYC. Here, bedbugs are real, and most apartment buildings happily welcome pest control each month.
