Phylicia’s Tennis Story:

What’s not to Love about tennis? It’s such an exhilarating sport. I started playing tennis when I was younger actually. It was golf, tennis and volleyball.
I always enjoyed watching. I grew up with the Williams sisters as my idols. You know, who doesn’t idolize them?
And now as an adult, I just appreciate the athleticism, the sport, the history, the beauty of the style of play, the outfits, the heritage events. I mean, I look forward to so many tournaments, the Grand Slams, of course, being a lot of our favorites, but, you know, you even have Indian wells, which is not an official grand slam, but often people call it the fifth grand slam. So a dream would be to attend all of them.
I have the Australian Open left and that will happen. It’s incredible to enjoy such an amazing sport with friends and family. And yeah, to watch the generation now, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka is just, it’s so much fun.
And you think about the potential of the sport and you just, it gets you even more excited about the future and how you can be involved. It’s a great sport to play. It’s an incredible sport to watch.
And it’s great for your health, too. So everyone get involved. There’s many variations and many ways to get involved.
So what a fun sport and I’m so excited to continue to watch the Incredible athletes grow and develop and and see what they do.

Yevheniia‘s Tennis Story:

So, how did I get into tennis? Well, it started way back when I was a kid. My whole family played tournaments named after my grandpa, in whose honour I was also named.

My sister played professionally with a coach, and I would often see her train and join her from time to time.
This sport has always amazed me and can make my heart stop just by watching it.

For me, tennis is not just a sport—it’s a whole mind game, where you have to detach from everything except your mind and the ball.
I play when I feel sad, happy, tired—you name it.

This game calms me down no matter what’s happening around me.

I came back and started playing again a few months ago, and it already feels like it has become a huge part of my routine.

Jenn’s Tennis Story

Hello, Ground Pass. Thank you for all the amazing work you do for the tennis world. I first got into tennis with Serena and Venus, seeing someone who looked like me excelling, which is a super exciting thing to grow up watching, and seeing now that those women have paved the way for the Naomis and the Cocos of the world, and Naomi and Coco are paving the way for an even newer generation of tennis enthusiasts and players is awesome.
So love that you guys are getting people excited about tennis and excited to see what you do next.

Katie’s Tennis Story

The first match I ever watched was the 2008 Wimbledon men’s final — Federer vs. Nadal. Five sets, two tie-breaks, and Rafa chasing his first title. I was hooked.

Back then, tennis was our only splurge — squeezed between medical training, newborn chaos, and cramming for exams. It worked with our unpredictable schedule, and quickly became the rhythm in our otherwise unstructured life.

Now, our kids have been playing for six years and love the game as much as we do. But this season? I’m finally investing in me. Not just watching from the sidelines — I’m learning to play. Because tennis isn’t just a sport. For me, it’s joy, movement, identity, and a reminder that growth doesn’t stop in motherhood.

Alex’s Tennis Story

I’ve always been curious about tennis, but always felt a little intimidated by the way the game is played both physically and technically, I’ve been playing (solely for love & fun)) a year now and GPP has been a great tool and resource to stay connected with tennis.

*Sorry but could not pick one photo of Alex. What a model!*

Brian’s Tennis Story

I like tennis because it’s a feast for all of my senses; The smell of a freshly opened can of balls...the sound of hitting the sweet spot... the feel of a drop volley...the sight of a passing shot winner...and of course the luscious taste of victory.
