Sandra Bobb is the long-serving Chairwoman of the Organizing Committee for the SVG Unity Picnic Canada, heavily regarded as the largest annual gathering of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) diaspora in Canada.
As Chairperson, she directs the massive, annual Vincy Unity Picnic, a summer highlight that regularly draws between 10,000 and 15,000 Vincentians and friends of the community to Crysler Provincial Park in Ontario.

Recognized publicly as an Ottawa-area community stalwart, she also serves as the President of the Toronto SVG Support Group, where she helps manage community outreach and educational initiatives,
such as the EB John Memorial Bursary.

MICHEAL GARRY DENNIE Biographic Profile Dr. Garrey Michael Dennie is a distinguished historian, academic, and author whose remarkable career spans across the Caribbean, Africa, and North America. Originally from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Dennie currently serves as an Associate Professor of History and the Coordinator of the African and African Diaspora Studies program at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Key Historical Milestones Speechwriter for Nelson Mandela (1990) One of the most extraordinary chapters of Dr. Dennie’s life occurred in February 1990. As apartheid was entering its final days in South Africa, he achieved the immense honor of serving as a speechwriter for Nelson Mandela immediately following Mandela's historic release from prison.

Drawing from this monumental experience, Dr. Dennie has lectured globally on liberation rhetoric, analyzing the intersecting legacies and powerful vocabularies of global civil rights icons such as Nelson Mandela and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Cultural Advocacy and Global Dialogue Dr. Dennie remains an active, powerful voice in Caribbean cultural preservation and international dialogue. Reparatory Justice: In 2023, he delivered the keynote address at the 10th International Garifuna Conference in St. Vincent, advocating passionately for reparatory justice for Indigenous peoples. Academic Leadership: Through his stewardship of the African and African Diaspora Studies program, he continues to bridge the historical and contemporary narratives of the global Black diaspora.

INTERVIEW WITH PROFESSOR RICHARD E. A. ROBERTSON MAY 31 ST @ 5 PM

Prof. Richard (Richie) Robertson is a Vincentian Geologist who has spent the past 30+ years in the Eastern Caribbean investigating geologic hazards and working with local people and their organizations to reduce vulnerability to these hazards. His passion for volcanoes was sparked by his experience of the 1979 explosive eruption of La Soufriere volcano of St. Vincent and led to his studying Geology at UWI Mona Campus and undertaking post-graduate studies at the University of Leeds (Volcanology) and UWI (Geology). Prof. Robertson joined the staff at the Seismic Research Unit in 1993 after serving for six years as Head of the local volcano-monitoring unit in St. Vincent (the Soufriere Monitoring Unit).

The evolution of soca music in St. Vincent and the Grenadines represents a complex interplay of post-colonial cultural expression, communal identity, and transnational migration. Over the past five decades, the genre has transitioned from localized, live-band orchestration to highly digitized, globally distributed formats. At the center of this transformation is Kendall "Whizzy" Wiseman a veteran vocalist, composer, whose career spans more than forty years. Wiseman’s artistic journey—from a teenage auditioned in the seminal Vincentian band X-A-Dus to a solo practitioner in the United Kingdom diaspora—serves as a primary lens for analyzing the structural shifts, production models, and cultural preservation mechanisms defining contemporary Caribbean music.
