What if your first love, the love you never forget, was actually the love you shared with your best friends.

What if it was countless sleepovers, junk food and late-night vent sessions that first made you understand what it felt like to be heard.

What it meant to belong, and be supported in all the fragmented parts of your evolving identity.

Maybe your best memories, wildest adventures and laugh-until-you-can’t-breathe moments were beside those women.

Maybe your lowest, most lost and confusing times of life were lifted up by that connection and friendship— that relentless solidarity of stumbling through this world together.

Maybe, just maybe, these girls, who grew into strong, complicated and courageous women, are who really taught you what it meant to be loved.

And that’s something you never, ever forget.

Wait for the person who sees you.

For the person who never thinks you’re too much or too little, but abundantly and outstandingly complete—just as you are.

Wait for the person who wants all of you. All the messy, fiery and complicated. The goofy, curious and resilient. The kind, the angry. The joyful, the heartbroken. The original, unfiltered and unrestrained you.

Wait for the person for who not only accepts all parts of your heart, but who loves them fiercely.

Who loves YOU fiercely. Loves you patiently, honestly and courageously. Without fail.

Wait for this person. Keep faith for this person. Fight for this person.

And if you’ve already found them, never let them go.

We LOVE this

We LOVE this

I have a rule that I’ve never told my children. If one of them ever asks me to take a picture I will always say yes, no matter how I look or feel. When they show me this picture I always say, “I love me!” Or “I’m so pretty!”.

I don’t talk negatively about my looks around my kids. Even with 30lbs of pregnancy & breastfeeding weight I will not speak negatively about my body to my kids. Choosing to not avoid a camera, mirror or the spotlight is an extension of this.

After 6 years of being kind to myself for the sake of my children I’ve learned the secret. It becomes less of an act and your reality. You eventually believe the words you speak to yourself.

It’s spring time now 🌻 and we’re still celebrating women!!

But I want to write a little love letter to women of color in particular today.

I see all that make us different. Our cultures, our life experiences, the ways we battle racism & hate, the steps we take to heal within our communities...

But I also see all that we have in common. We grieve, but we grow. We reach across divides and hold space for each other. We continue to remember how connected we are - not just in our struggles, but in the ways we fight through and rise above them.

I see you and all of the lovely ways you show up for yourself and your sisters. And because of you, I am more convinced each day that there is still SO MUCH beauty to be found, both in the differences that seek to divide us, and in the hopeful resilience that will forever connect us. 💛

We’ll keep going! And we’ll do it together!!

Teach girls bravery, not perfection

THIS.

We're raising our girls to be perfect, and we're raising our boys to be brave says Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code. In this Talk, she explores why she has taken up the charge to socialize young girls to take risks and learn to program — two skills they need to move society forward.
